To my two best mentors, MJ Demarco and Jim Rohn, who opened my eyes, guided me, and are still guiding me throughout my entrepreneurial journey. – Abdelilah Hamdani Foreword Environmental art is one of the unsung heroes of the CG world.

It doesn’t matter whether you’re doing a turnaround render of some random 3D prop or building a complete animated film. Those objects and stories exist in a space, an environment. Even if that environment is the void of outer space, it’s still an environment. And that space is more than just the incidental surroundings around some kind of hero object. It has a character of its own, built by millions of tiny stories that contribute to its overall look. That grounding is what makes every other part of the scene believable…

makes it feel real. The aesthetic doesn’t matter. That environment could be pure fantasy or heavily stylized. Either way, it’s the baseline for believability, the scaffolding upon which we suspend our disbelief. And it’s the work of you, the designer, to make the audience believe your environment is real.
