A Chance At Redemption For The Alpha – Isa Rinner

“But why not? See? We have options. But whatever is going to happen, I want it to, with you. Amos loves you, too, you know?” “Although he has no wolf counterpart as his mate?” Silas asks. “He doesn’t mind. He can take over my body whenever he wants to be with you, and he knows you accept the both of us.” “I love both of you,” Silas clarifies.
“Shifters and their mates… It’s truly a peculiar concept.” He sits up and stretches. “Too many feelings for one talk,” he states. I laugh. “You started it.” Silas grumbles slightly, clearly because he has nothing to retort. Then, however, he stills, tilting his head. “Oh, damn it!” “What?” “I can feel Alex and Durant’s presence. I can’t believe they have to interrupt at a time like this.” He looks kind of adorable when he is annoyed, at least when I am not the reason for his annoyance. Well, it’s still early anyway, so we both get up, take a swift shower before Silas leaves to meet with his brothers.
Meanwhile, I decide to get some paperwork done. I am not really the office type, and absolutely loathe doing that stuff, but someone has to do it, and I can’t shove everything off to Silas all the time. Fortunately, Micah is kind enough to help me. It’s a boring, uneventful late afternoon, until I feel a shiver going down my spine like there is a cold breeze coming towards me.
“Is the window open? It’s a bit chilly.” Micah blinks. “What? Yes, but it’s not really cold outside.” Goosebumps start to appear on my forearm, making me stare down at them in confusion. Am I getting sick? That would be weird. Usually, Amos fights off most illnesses that come toward us. Another shiver goes down my spine, making me get up from my desk. “Marc?” Micah asks.
“What’s wrong?” My body feels tense, slowly, the cold on my arms spreads through my body like an invisible ice dragon keeps breathing down my neck. Amos stirs, and I suddenly know. “We are being attacked,” I blurt out. “What?” Micah gapes. “But we haven’t-“ “No time,” I blurt out. “It’s my gift. Get the children and omegas to safety.” Micah nods, jumping up and rushing out of the office.
Silas, attack, Northern borders, I link my mate. Through the bond, I can feel Silas startling, but all I get is a firm Got you, like the professional he is. The shiver I feel on my skin is becoming stronger, and it pushes me to act fast.

I’ve pushed myself further than ever today. “Not bad,” Beta Floyd mutters. “Still room for improvement, but I commend you for trying.” I hold back a groan. When I complain about his lack of praise, he usually motivates me by letting me do some extra exercises. He is a rather serious and strict man, and at times, as a teen, I hated him so much I would have liked to slap him against the wall…
if only I could. However, his training pays off. I have to give him credit where credit is due. The only warrior better than him in the pack is Dad, and he is the alpha. He barely trains my twin brother and me, though. He thinks it’s going to ruin our relationship with him if he does so. Judging by the way Eugene and I complain about Beta Floyd, I’m starting to believe Dad might be right.
It’s better to hate the beta than our own father. “You look like you would like to murder someone,” Beta Floyd says. “Is something wrong?” “No,” I say, finally getting up from the ground and grabbing my towel. “With you turning eighteen soon, your potential will go through the roof. You need to work hard to nurture your gifts,” he laments. “Sure,” I say.
