Automate Your Life With ChatGPT – 2026 – Automate Your Life With ChatGPT

We get back a spreadsheet into which we can enter either an annual or monthly cost for each expense line, from which the spreadsheet either calculates a monthly or annual expense. ChatGPT doesn’t stop there; it goes above and beyond in creating a “summary” section in the spreadsheet that tots up how much we’re spending in each category, with a neat visualisation that allows us to see clearly the biggest family costs. Work with your data Now you have all the spending captured in a spreadsheet, you can ask the AI to take a look at those figures and recommend areas where you might be able to make some savings.
We press the “+” button in the chat window and upload the filled-in spreadsheet containing our budget data. Then we type: This is a spreadsheet showing our family expenditure. Suggest 10 ways to reduce this household budget without affecting quality of life. The AI has a series of recommendations, which include looking at our various broadband and mobile bills, and seeing if we can find ways to bundle them together for a cheaper package; cutting back on those “invisible” subscriptions that scrape hundreds of pounds out of the kitty each year; and checking whether we can get a water meter installed, as our bill seems higher than average.
Categorise your real spending If you really want to take the budget tracking to the next level, you can have ChatGPT analyse your monthly expenditure, so you can get an ongoing snapshot of your money flows. Most online banks let you export transaction data into a spreadsheet, which you can upload to the AI and let it work its magic – although think carefully before doing this, because you’ll be sharing sensitive financial information with ChatGPT.
We downloaded a month’s worth of bank transactions, clicked “+” to upload the file, and then entered the following prompt: These are my bank transactions from the past month. Can you help me categorise the expenditure? That gave us a headline summary of the main areas of spending, but if you want to make sure the AI is correctly identifying every transaction, you can ask it to: Put each line into a spreadsheet with your categorisation.

ou might have a robot vacuum cleaner gliding across your carpets, and a robot lawn mower cutting the grass in your garden. But there’s still an awful lot of drudgery that we have to deal with on a daily basis – and for that, there’s ChatGPT.
This guide will show you dozens of ways that you can automate your life with ChatGPT. From booking flights or hotels, to planning family meals, to staying on top of your email, to preparing for a new baby – the AI assistant can smash through a lot of tiresome work in seconds. Highlighted with the little speech bubbles, you’ll find hundreds of prompts throughout the magazine that will unlock the AI’s abilities. Simply enter these prompts into ChatGPT (or adapt them for your own needs) to have your super-powerful assistant complete the jobs for you.
At the end of each section, you’ll also find a tutorial, showing you how to complete a specific project – such as automating your smart home, or planning a weekend break – with step-by-step instructions on how to do it.
