AUTHENTIC Leadership – Paul E Fein

They evolve into procedures, ethical expectations, and even into the creation of a well-defined work environment and general atmosphere. They become a way of life along with emotional rules that are used in problem-solving and decision-making. New standards for excellence and expectations for all employees continue to evolve. They become the building blocks for loyalty and motivation as the behaviors become embedded into the organizational culture. Ten potential core values There are many potential core values that can be used to define the actual practices and attitudes of the leaders of the company and the employee population.
The following value areas can potentially be used to establish a core organizational culture. The key is to recognize that the focus on people must be the primary and critical driver of the human chemistry utilized by inspiring heartful leaders. Trust and Integrity Being open and honest, demonstrating high levels of ethics Quality and Excellence Establishing high standards, being best-in-class Risk Taking and Courage Accepting challenges, willing to go outside comfort zone Communication and Inspiration Listening and communicating effectively Development and Growth Fostering a learning environment Ownership and Accountability Delivering on promises, prioritizing responsibilities Humility and Pride Humbleness, honesty, empathy, and compassion Teamwork and Collaboration Partnering and sharing of knowledge and information Appreciation and Acknowledgment Focusing on the contributions and celebrating Transparency and Openness Building on all aspects of authenticity and truthfulness There are many core values that can define the behaviors, attitude, and beliefs of the employee population as well as the practices of the company leaders.
And, eventually, the selected values become the connection to a common organizational culture. Leaders must inspire the engagement and the commitment to the core values, and in turn, to the company. Effective and influential leaders are always balancing two major capability characteristics and practices – their ability to build trust in all relationships, and their ability to drive a positive and energizing organizational purpose.
This is a critical component of being an authentic leader with humility, kindness, and heartfulness.
