A Love Like This Part 2 – Kya Montague (1)

“I just wanted to make something special for you and celebrate all you’ve been doing lately,” I said as I placed a plate of food in front of him. I sat down across from him and held his hands as he prayed over our food. “Oh! Baby, you forgot the wine!
Let me grab that real quick,” he said, standing before I could get a word in. He brought back a wine bottle with two glasses. “I’m not going to have any wine tonight. I have a little bit of a headache,” I lied. “Okay. I’ll take care of that later,” he said, shooting me his bedroom eyes.
What a sexy, sexy man, I thought. He told me all about his experience back on the road with the fellas and how he couldn’t believe some of the bad habits they still had. “I’m too grown to share a room with those guys. Johnny leaves his clothes and shoes everywhere, and Marcell still sleeps completely nude!” he said, grimacing at the flashback he had. “I paid extra just to have a room to myself! I couldn’t wait to get back here to my wife!
You’re the only one I want to see sleeping nude,” he said, kissing the back of my hand. “How’d you feel in the house alone while I was away? I know we talked almost every day, but were you okay?” he asked, sipping his wine.
“Everything was fine; it was interesting actually—” I started, when Wesley’s phone began to ring. “It’s Candice. It’s a video call so I can say goodnight to Sky. Hold that thought,” he said, before answering the phone. “Hey pretty girl! Daddy misses you!” he greeted, with a huge grin on his face. He talked to Sky for a few minutes and told Candice he would call her back tomorrow. I smiled at him because the love he had for Sky was so sweet, I couldn’t help but for some of it to rub off on me.
“So, what were you saying? What made it so interesting?” he asked. “I love how you love her,” I answered, still in the moment he shared with his daughter. “Yeah, that’s my little angel,” he beamed. I smiled, fully taking in this moment before my next words. “Do you think Sky would be a good big sister?” I asked.
“I think so. She sweet, she’s caring, and she’s very social,” he answered casually, placing a fork full of food in his mouth. “That’s good, because in about seven and a half months, we’ll find out just how good of a big sister she’ll be,” I said, releasing a cleansing breath.

It was close to 6:00 a.m. on Monday morning, and today was my first day back to work after my wedding and two-week honeymoon in Paris. I was utterly exhausted.
I wished I could have erased the last twenty-four hours of my life. The revelation that Wesley could be the father of Candice’s baby gave me such high anxiety, I felt like I needed to be medicated. Wesley lay next to me in the early hours of the quiet morning. He didn’t sleep well either. He left the bedroom for long periods of time throughout the night.
He held me at times, but we shared no real intimacy. The mood just wasn’t there. We both had different versions of the same story on our minds. I picked up my phone and knew I could no longer avoid the inevitable. It was time for me to get up and get ready for work. I pulled the blankets off me. “Good morning, baby. You’re up early,” Wesley’s deep voice murmured. His voice sounded as tired as I felt. “I didn’t sleep too well, and since I’m up, I figured I’d go in a little early today.
I’ve been gone for two weeks. I’m sure I have a lot to catch up on,” I sighed. I began to move closer to the edge of the bed when one of his strong arms caught me and slid me against his warm body. “Do you have a few extra minutes for me before you get up?”
