They both looked toward the door, and Lauren saw a drop-dead gorgeous woman coming through the entrance. She stood around five-seven, with flawless ebony skin and curves for days. Her long, curly hair hung down to the middle of her back, and she was dressed in designers that Lauren could barely pronounce. The aroma of expensive perfume filled the air of the laundromat, and her diamond-studded earrings gleamed under the lights.

She was bad for sure, and Lauren watched as she headed directly for Neville. Lauren’s eyes went to the window and saw a red Mercedes-Benz parked beside Neville’s Porsche. So, this was the kind of woman that he liked? The woman sauntered over to Neville with a seductive grin on her face. “Why are you in here?” She looked around with a scowl on her face. Simone briefly watched Lauren fold her clothes.

The woman was pretty enough, but she wasn’t anything to do a double take at, so her slight jealousy evaporated. The woman’s bushy ponytail could use some heat to straighten it out, and she needed to slap some edge control on those frizzy edges. Her nails were short and didn’t even have a coat of clear polish. She didn’t even have a gloss on her lips.

She was as plain as the day was long. Simone’s attention went back to Neville. “I told you I would do your laundry for you.” “I know you did, and I told you I’m a grown man that can do his own laundry,” Neville replied flirtatiously. Simone was a boss. She had created several journals for women, had a candle line, and con- sulted with other business owners to help get their businesses off the ground or to help them generate more sales. In addition, she offered courses and eBooks, and her considerable social media following al- lowed her to sell out anytime she had anything to offer.

Her last business course was priced at $175, and she had more than one hun- dred people enroll.

I had just gotten in from a business trip down in Miami at two in the morning and just wanted to sleep the rest of the day away. From my phone ringing back to back, I knew that shit almost impossible now. Reaching over and feeling up on the nightstand, I grabbed my Iphone 11 pro Max, and with one eye open, unlocked it and an- swered the call “Yo Micah, get up man.”

Hearing my best friend Karma on the other line, I became more alert. “I’m up, what’s good?” “I just got a call from Kaiser and he said Tracey down there passed the fuk out at one of the houses on Morris Ave. I know you said not to call you anymore wit her shit, but I know you didn’t mean it.”

Tracey was my first love and the mother of my heart beat, Eniko. Right out of College I had promised Tracey the world if she stuck by me and road this journey called life with me. Somewhere along the ride, I never expected to be a single father and for the love of my life to become addicted to coke. Sitting up in bed, I swiped my hand across my face and sighed deeply. Karma was right about both of his statements.
