The relief of Jasmine’s presence mingled with an urge to break down. The safety of her friend’s company loosened her control, and she wavered on the edge of tears.

Her magic had not been a part of her, so she had managed to navigate her reality as best as she could. Now that she had finally gotten over the stigma of being a powerless witch, it decided to manifest. There was an uncanny correlation between her involvement with a demon and this happening. That much was obvious, but how did she tell Jas without revealing Constantine? It would be impossible to hide this from Jasmine or Alanna if she wanted to have a shot at getting to know him.

Jas walked around the kitchen, picking up baking trays and pouring the water out of them. Waiting for Magdalena to explain, without rushing her. The only chance she had at lying to her friend was if she decided then and there not to see Constantine again. The way her chest constricted was answer enough. Whatever the future held for her and the demon, she was in for the ride.
