Beastly And Bookish – Catrina Bell

I make a farting sound with my lips and wave him off. I don’t want to be a bother. It’s the holidays, and he’s got his own business to get up and running. “The increase in rent is a cost you could negotiate.” He sets his tea on the table and turns more toward me, his knee brushing along the length of my leg.
Oh, he smells nice, like herbs and soap. “They aren’t paying for repairs of a historic building, so there might be a way to press them on the issue.” “I don’t know.” I trace the gilded curve of the tea plate back and forth. “It seems fair to have me pay for repairs since we’ve rented this building for decades.”
“Exactly my point. You’ve paid your fair share of rent. It seems fair to me that the owner of the building maintains it and that money should go toward repairs.” “I’ll just, uh . . .” I imagine trying to convince my landlord to do the repairs again over the phone and remember how quickly they dismissed the last request I made. “I’ll focus on the fundraiser.”
He’s trying to help, I know. I just hate rocking the boat. “Onward and upward.” I give him a smile that must not be convincing, judging by the concerned slant of his mouth. “The fundraiser is going great thanks to your support! Speaking of, let me get you those books.”
I pull out the young adult duology I picked up for him and hold both covers up with a waggle. He grins. “That series is one of my favorites.” My face falls. “You’ve already read it?” “And her other trilogy in that same world. I collect all the special editions that pop up. I probably have six different versions of these two books.” “Oh.” I frown. “But . . .” He leans forward and plucks them from my grasp, tracing the edge of the hardcover.
“It’s been a few years since they came out, and I’ve never re-read them back-to-back. No time like the present. This was an excellent choice.” “Oh.” I grin, feeling light and happy at the compliment. “Thanks. Good.” He twists the first book around, reading the summary on the back. “You know, I’ve always loved the heist and plot twists of these books, but I never really considered how at their heart, the stories are about friendship.”
A book about magic and friendship is what he asked for. I realize all of a sudden how most of the friends later become love interests. Welp. “And found family,” I croak. “One of my favorite tropes.” “It’s kind of crazy how even though we haven’t talked in years, you pick one of my favorite books.”
To my book-loving grandmas who made a book-loving me: I love and miss you every day. To the bookish community: Thanks for the friendship, the laughs, and the good (but also very, very bad) recommendations. 1kitap1.com/en Summary This beauty didn’t ask for a beastly bookworm for Christmas, but maybe she should have . . . All Noelle wants is to save the Winter Bliss library. She has a plan, too— a New Year’s Eve fundraiser during the annual fire-magic festival.
The last thing she needs is a distracting romance with the sexy, binge-reading demon she hasn’t seen in over a decade. Too bad fate (and Mount Winter Bliss) has other plans. Rom only returned to his small hometown to open Perkatory, his family’s newest coffee shop. Seeing Noelle again is a welcome surprise, but there’s no way the beautiful librarian could ever fall for a scarred-up monster like him, right?
When an avalanche leaves Noelle and Rom snowed in together, the forced proximity might be their second chance at first love. But will their happily ever after come at the expense of saving Noelle’s beloved library? Beastly & Bookish is a cozy, contemporary, holiday romance featuring a roller-skating librarian and book-loving demon’s emotional journey from friends to lovers.

The building is yours.” The older demon and I clasp forearms in a traditional handshake. My eyes glow fever-warm while his burn a brighter shade of red. We nod at the same time, sealing the agreement.
Demonkind are natural bargainers and will con you out of the clothes on your back, but when we make a deal, we stick to it. There’s no one I understand better and would rather do business with than my own kind. While we’re the least populous of the world’s people groups, here in Winter Bliss, we’re the majority.
The active volcano nearby is an epicenter for demons who come for the holidays and to ski the lava flows that erupt every winter. The real estate agent, Balthazar Jones, leans back and surveys the empty storefront he just rented me. “My Maggie will love having a coffee shop in this old building. What’re you naming the place?” “Perkatory.” “Ha! Glad to see the Perchaz family doing so well.” He’s an old friend of my dad’s, and a grin kicks up on one side of his face at the name.
