Curse Of The Seven – Ks Elliott

Without another word, she walked– stumbled–to her room. A sudden feeling that she was going to lead them to certain death plagued her mind. Even though they all seemed motivated and committed to the cause, they had to know they were outmatched. Alexia came to terms with the fact that she would die trying to avenge her parents, but blind confidence was the best way to approach the situation.
If she had doubts, the others would too, and she couldn’t afford that. If by some miracle they managed to come out on top… Air filled her lungs, a deep breath before going underwater. Regaining her balance as she stepped into her room, Alexia packed up her things and waited in the courtyard with Luca.
“Do you really believe we can pull this off?” Skepticism rang loud and true in his voice. Alexia’s hands curled into fists by her side. She knew it was a valid point, but it hurt that he questioned it. “With the way Damien trains? Yes.” Nudging a rock with her shoe, she didn’t make eye contact with him. “We might need an extra body or two, and I’m not saying we’re all going to make it out of this alive but–” “I trust you.”
A flashing smile shone on his face as she looked up at him. Validation warmed her chest as the rest of her friends walked out of the Everton Inn. Slater waved goodbye to Mrs Everton as he closed the front door, Alexia was just glad that she was leaving the haunted place. No ghosts showed themselves while she was there, but she knew they were watching. Now that everyone knew about her mission, walking in their group felt more cemented.
They were a rebellion, the rebellion. The one that the king had no idea was coming for him. Every step she took was fuelled with pride, her parents would be proud. She thought about them the rest of the way to the city of eternal flame. “Hey, stop!”
