Cyber Kinetic – JW Clay

When she stops, they’re nose to nose. “Why do you think I gave you that order, Mr. Shaw?” “No clue, ma’am.” “Do you think it made me happy, Mr. Shaw?” “No, ma’am.” “Do you think a leprechaun hopped out of my bowl of Lucky fucking Charms this morning and told me to do it, Mr. Shaw?” “No, ma’am.” “Well, you seem to know all about this. Why don’t you tell me what the fuck’s going on?” Dorian is stuck. He could talk all night about how it feels off, but he doesn’t have the complete picture.
He asked why Jen didn’t create the copy, and he got an answer. The only move left is to call Martinez a liar, and that’s a dangerous thing to do. It’s over. “I’m sorry, ma’am. I crossed the line.” “You did. You will keep what happened tonight between you and me, understood?” “Yes, ma’am.” Dorian tries not to flinch as he responds. She just told him to keep his mouth shut. Something bad is happening, and now he’s on the sidelines.
Martinez raises an arm, finger extended. “The door’s that way, Mr. Shaw.” “Ma’am.” Dorian sidesteps Martinez and makes a beeline toward the operations room door. Without a word or backward glance, he’s out. Martinez drops her head. After a few seconds, she drops into a chair. She feels as if she doesn’t start breathing, the floor will be next. Dorian is right. Guilt sours Martinez’s stomach. She did wrong tonight. Add it to Jen’s tab. Everything that happened at Jen’s apartment was genuine. Friendship is friendship. Honesty is honesty.
But Martinez had an order to follow. As she collects herself, she prays that she’ll have the chance to explain things before Jen finds out. OceanofPDF.com Thirty-Five “How much sleep do you think they give us?” The voice replies, “Not sure. I’ve tried to count it, but I always lose track. This place fucks you up, man.” Andrew nods to himself. He loses track of the hours, too.
“I’m having some trouble.” “Hallucinations getting bad?” asks the voice. “I see snakes slithering across my cell floor. Poisonous snakes …” Andrew says, referencing his biggest fear. As a kid, he saw a garter snake and almost fainted—which made the phobia worse. How would he defend himself if he were unconscious? Since then, the phobia has been a constant in his life. This hell forces Andrew to stare as the deadly animals traverse his floor; if he shuts his eyes, the pulses start, and the pulses are worse.
The voice replies, “Goddamn … that’s a drag.
Her target is the United States, but the mission starts with one of Mexico’s most ruthless cartels … and a weapon capable of killing thousands. Chapter 75 Chapter 76 Chapter 77 Also by J.W. Clay About the Author OceanofPDF.com One Moscow, Russia Numbers replace names as identity dissolves into anonymity. But anonymity is power in this hospital. Dr. Mikael Kirov watches one of his nameless patients being wheeled into an operating room. The surgical team transfers the patient to the operating table, and surgical preparations begin. The anesthesiologist erects his working barrier, shielding the patient from unsanitary equipment.
Surgical drapes follow, coating the patient powder blue. Nurses spread disinfectant on the surgical site—in this case, the patient’s knee. It’s a preparation defined by precision, and the ability to execute flawlessly, again and again. Kirov is in surgical preparation, beginning his scrub down. He turns on the hot water, watching it steam in the basin. Once the temperature is right, he starts. Everything up to the elbows gets a thorough service. Dr. Kirov is the chief orthopedic surgeon at Central Clinic Hospital.
Only an elite few receive treatment at this hospital. Kirov’s blade is for fewer. Patients here are politicians, oligarchs, or high-ranking members of the Russian military. Admission to the hospital comes at a high cost, monetary and political. The price tag reflects the need for secrecy and security. It also stems from medical sophistication; this is Russia’s most advanced hospital.
