Dancing In The Florida Sun – Kim Griffin

It’s local. Jacob: I’ll check them out. Stay safe. Stay together. Don’t leave your drink unattended. Brooke: Yes, Mr. Bossy. The bar wasn’t fancy—worn booths and tables, exposed ceiling, and an unfinished concrete floor filled Brooke’s vision. Elise led her to a table with four guys, close to the empty stage. In about fifteen minutes, her friends’ band was scheduled to play. “I’ll introduce you to the band,” Elise said when they stopped by the table.
“Elise!” cried a girl sitting in one of the guys’ laps. Since she was the only girl at the table, Brooke guessed she was Maddie and sitting in Ryhs’s lap. The girl turned to Brooke. “You must be Brooke. Elise has told me all about you. I’m Maddie. Glad you came out to hear us tonight!” Maddie had arresting blue eyes, short dark hair with red tips, and was dressed in all black.
For someone who looked so intimidating, she seemed friendly. The guys examined Brooke. “Everyone, this is Brooke!” Elise announced to the table, then went around introducing the guys. On the left was Brad, an attractive guy with light brown hair, dark eyes, and several tattoos on his left arm. Brooke looked forward to getting to know him and helping Elise get out of the friendzone. Next to him sat Rhys, with Maddie in his lap. He had a dark brown faux hawk and tattoos peaking above his neckline. Then there was Liam, the guitarist, with blond hair shaved short on the sides, long up top, and a full beard.
On her right sat Matt, the lead singer. He had short brown hair that was longer on top and swept over the side of his forehead. He wore a lopsided smile. Matt’s green eyes held Brooke’s and he grinned. “Looks like all the seats are taken, so we’ll have to get creative.
I’ve got Brooke,” he said, pulling her into his lap. “Brad, Elise is all yours.” Brad laughed and seconds later, Elise sat in his lap, looking content.
