His Little Bride – Aurie Jameson

“My precious little girl,” he said, cuddling her close. Jen wrapped her arms around his neck, pressing her face into his neck. “I love you, Daddy,” she said tiredly. “I love you too, my baby,” he said. “And I love hearing you call me Daddy.” “I love calling you Daddy,” she admitted, blushing. “I’m going to do it a lot more.” “Good,” he said simply. “If you don’t, you know what I’ll have to do to you.”
Chapter Seven “I’m so happy for you, Jen!” Jen smiled at her best friend, Anna. The two were in Jen and Will’s living room, with paper, glitter, and stickers scattered all over. “Thank you!” Jen breathed out, flipping through a wedding magazine before cutting something out of it. She showed it to Anna. “I really love this bouquet!
Maybe I could get a similar one!” “I love those colors!” Anna squealed, pushing her straight light brown hair off her shoulder. She moved from her spot on the couch to sit next to Jen, who was sitting on the floor in front of the coffee table. “Is that your color scheme for the wedding? Pinks and blues?” Jen nodded happily. “Our favorite colors!” she explained before taking the piece of paper and gluing it down in her wedding planning book. She sighed then.
“There’s so much more to account for than I thought there’d be.” “I’ll help in any way I can,” Anna promised, putting an arm around the smaller girl. Jen leaned against her gratefully. When she pulled away, she gave the other woman a sly look. “So when are you and Allen tying the knot?”
Anna blushed brightly at that. “I don’t know if we’re ready to talk about that yet,” she said, but she smiled. “We’re really happy, though.” Anna and Jen really hit it off when Allen introduced Anna to her and Will. Will and Allen were best friends so naturally, Allen had been hoping Jen and Anna would become friends as well. Partially because he knew Anna needed friends but also to help Anna become more comfortable around people. The plan was a success. The two girls were inseparable.

Her large brown eyes were wet with unshed tears, while chubby paint-covered fingers dug into the fabric of her cotton smock. “What’s wrong, Lily?” she asked, moving to kneel in front of the girl. Jen tilted her head. “Are you hurt?” Lily shook her head, causing her brown pigtails to whip against her small shoulders.
Her lower lip jutted out ever so slightly. Jen had to fight back a smile. “Then what is it?” she prodded patiently. Lily lifted her arm to show the underside of it to her teacher. In the crease of her elbow was a streak of sky blue paint.
Jen giggled lightly. “That’s a nice color on you,” she said. The little girl’s frown deepened. “But it’s not on my fingers!” “I can see that,” Jen said, thoroughly amused. “You have nice colors on your fingers too though.” “Ms. Simmons, it’s finger paint!” Lily exclaimed, placing great emphasis on the last two words. “But now, it’s not on my fingers!”
“I’ll help you clean up soon,” Jen promised, gently turning the little girl around. She gestured to the easel the child had been working at. “Why don’t you finish your butterfly until clean-up time? The poor butterfly only has one wing!” After mumbling something about how the “other wing is in the back,” Lily obeyed and went back to painting.
