I Found My Forever In You – Nisha

At first, I was irritated by their lack of professionalism, but I let it roll off my back. I would head back to Koryn’s house and if she was still home, maybe we could talk. I kept things light last night because I just wanted to get to know her, but the more I learned, the more I wanted to know.
I couldn’t tell yet if she would be open to entertaining anything with me, and if I were honest with myself, I wasn’t sure if I was ready to embark on another relationship this soon either. At the same time though, I didn’t believe in coincidences. Koryn broke up with her ex right before we met, and I broke up with my ex right after we met. Plus I randomly ended up living in her apartment temporarily while it all went down.
It had to mean something, so I wanted to explore it. But I would be taking my time. I would hate to rush things or turn her off. Pulling back up to Koryn’s house, I noticed something was off. There was a car parked in the driveway that I didn’t recognize. Her friends? was my first thought, then I wondered if I should go somewhere else to wait for my meeting and give her privacy. Then I remembered that I had left some paperwork in the guest bedroom.
Good thing the meeting was pushed back, or I would have been the one who looked unprofessional. I strode toward the front door, mentally preparing to meet Koryn’s friends, when I heard angry shouting from the inside of the house. Koryn was telling somebody to get out. My hands froze as I wondered if I should turn back. I didn’t want to walk in on her arguing with her friends. This wasn’t my apartment and that would be awkward as hell.
But then I heard a male voice, low and threatening. I couldn’t make out what he was saying, but my senses were on high alert. Before I knew it, I was unlocking the door and walking in. Koryn looked frazzled and afraid, while the man’s expression was smug, until he saw me. As soon as we caught eyes, he stepped away from Koryn and stared back and forth between us. “What the fuck is this?” he asked, gesturing between us. He turned to Koryn. “Bitch, you cheated on me?”

The hostess, Tara, greeted me with a warm smile and led me through a maze of candlelit tables. Soft jazz and the clinking of crystal created a soothing ambiance that almost masked my nervousness. I’d never imagined dining at a place where entrees cost more than my weekly grocery budget, but after a week of my fiancé Chris’s extravagant pampering with everything from spa days to shopping sprees, I was starting to get used to it.
“Your table is right this way,” Tara said, and she gestured as she spoke, leading me to one of the tables near the back of the restaurant.
