Introduction To Power Plant Engineering – Amitava Sarkar

What is roaping in a coal pipe? What is the solution for it? 10. Write short notes on Corrosion and erosion problems in coal pipes. 11. Sketch the firing arrangement for a two-tier, front wall fired boiler. 12. What are the Disturbing aspects of ash as far as its role in boiler is concerned? 13.
Describe briefly the methods of ash formation in pulverized coal fired boiler. 14. What are the mechanisms for the transport of ash particles on to the tube surface in the convective duct? 15. What is the difference between transport of ash particles by inertial impaction and eddy recirculation? Do these mechanisms depend on the size of the ash particles? 16. Discuss the different methods of shedding of deposits on heat transfer surfaces.
OceanofPDF.com Condenser, Cooling Tower and Feed Heaters 9.1 Introduction Steam turbine based electric power plants work on the principle of heat engines. They reject a significant amount of heat into the environment. Some of that heat is added to the environment by the condensing system in a steam cycle, and the rest is added by the discharge to the atmosphere of the hot flue gas vented through the smoke stack.
The heat removed from the steam, to complete the cycle, is achieved in the condenser. The circulating cooling water of the condenser, in turn, rejects its heat to the atmosphere by means of a cooling tower or to a nearby surface water. In absence of a nearby river, the cooling of circulating cooling water is achieved in a closed loop by incorporating a cooling tower in the loop.
In the following sections, we consider the principles of operation of condenser and cooling tower. We will conclude this chapter with some discussion on different types of feed heaters that are commonly employed in thermal power stations.
