Roll out and cover the cake board. Trim out a piece at the front of the cake board for the path. Colour 30g (loz) sugarpaste brown. Roll out to the same thickness as the cake board covering and cut a path to fit the piece removed. Trim the crust from the cake and slice the top flat. Cut the cake as shown in the dia¬ gram. Put one of the two larger cakes on top of the other and trim to make the roof shape.

Sandwich the layers together using buttercream. Sand¬ wich the three smaller cakes together with ☆ large and small rolling pins sharp knife 2 cake smoothers 3cm (1/4 inch) and 1cm (14 inch) square cutters piping tube (tip) or small circle cutter small blossom plunger cutter pieces of foam fine paintbrush black food colouring pen MR. Use cake smoothers to move the cake to pre¬ vent fingermarks. Position the cake on the cake board, lining up the centre front of the house with the path. Colour 315g (lOoz) sugarpaste red.
