Loves Betrayal Tribal Bonds 5 – Stormy Glenn

He wrapped his fingers around the man’s wrist and pulled. It was slow going and Jesse was sweating by the time he got them both to the thin mattress in the corner. He rolled the man to the far side of the mattress next to the wall before collapsing on what remained of the thin bedding. Jesse took several measured breaths in and out until his heart rate slowed to a more normal panicked level.
He wasn’t a shrimp or anything but the guy had practically been dead weight. That actually kind of worried Jesse. He had every intention of escaping this hell hole. It was going to be really hard to do so when he had to drag a man behind him. When Jesse turned to look at the guy, his eyes locked with a set of deep blues that were fully aware of the world around them.
Jesse blinked, wondering for a moment if he had imagined it. When the guy raised his finger to his lips for silence, Jesse finally realized two things…one, this guy was fully aware of everything, which meant he was probably playing dumb for a reason. And two, Jesse knew this guy.
“Roman?” Jesse mouthed. “I kind of thought you had gotten away, kid.” “I did.” Jesse shrugged. “They caught me again.” Roman’s blue eyes rolled. “It wasn’t my fault this time. Some wannabe vampire kidnapped me and then traded me off for a suitcase full of cash.” And if he ever got his hands on Bruce, he’d show the guy that humans should be feared just as much as paranormals. “He wanted—” Jesse pressed his lips together, suddenly wondering if he was giving away too much information.
He wasn’t sure who he could trust anymore. For all he knew, Roman Polaris had been a captive for so long, he was on the hunters’ side now. “He wanted what?” Roman asked. “It doesn’t matter.” Jesse shook his head. “How did you get here?” “They move me around a lot, never keeping me in the same place for more than a few days.
I think they are worried if they keep me in one place too long, someone might mount a rescue mission.” “If they knew where you were, I’m sure they would. They seem worried about you.” That was probably safe to say. Roman had friends and family that were searching for him, and if the hunters were moving him around so much, they had to know that already. “No, no.” Roman’s eyes went wide. “They can’t come for me. The hunters are expecting that, planning for it. They’ll kill anyone that tries.”
“Roman—” “No!”
Kerry is the beta of his pack. He is loyal to a fault, holding his honor close to his chest. But he also holds something else close to his chest…his need to dominate. When Jesse walks into his life, Kerry finds the one person meant to be his is the one that needs him to be dominant the most.
Teaching Jesse how to be the anamchara of a wolf shifter might be harder to fight than the hunters that drag Jesse into their plans to exterminate paranormals. Jesse is human who has a bad track record of putting his needs above others, but he has his reasons.
When he meets Kerry under unusual circumstances, the life he has been fighting so hard to obtain is handed to him on a silver platter. But this gift has strings, ones Jesse’s not sure he can handle, especially when he tries to do the right thing and his past misdeeds have everyone around him believing the worst, even the man who is supposed to be his mate.
