“Did he beg?” “Yes,” David slammed the bible shut and sat back, mirroring the posture of Michael. “Yes, he begged me not to hurt him. Then he shit and pissed his pants. Is that what you wanted to hear? Well, is it?” “Yes,” Michael nodded, his lean body like that of a cat as he stretched and smiled.

“That will do perfectly, thank you, my friend.” “Friend…” David scoffed, his head shaking, and on the other side of the table, Michael looked offended. “I am your friend David, never doubt that.” A heavy silence descended over the pair as they sat, holding each other’s gaze, and then with a weary sigh, David spoke. “I am meeting the second of the men tomorrow, the second of Laura’s rapists.” “And you’ll kill him?”

David caught the inside of his right cheek between his back teeth as he held the gaze of his companion then. “I am going to give him the chance to turn himself into the police.” Across the surface of the small table, Michael frowned and then leaned forwards, his voice low, anger in his blue eyes. “That was not the agreement, David.” “Everyone deserves the right to be forgiven…to be penitent…I have to give them the opportunity.”

Michael nodded, once, his voice tight. “And if he refuses? What then?” David closed his eyes and sighed. OceanofPDF.com Chapter Four “Is this how you thought this would end you fucking old cunt?” the voice screamed down at David, and he blinked, forcing himself to stay conscious. Something struck his head, another kick?, and white light flashed through his vision accompanying the sharp pain.

“Well?” the speaker shouted, louder now as they leaned over him, and he grunted in shock as a fist struck him in the face, sending jolts of agony through his eyes.

OceanofPDF.com Chapter One “Are you sure you are ready for what lies ahead, David?” Father David Kent turned from where he had been staring off through the trees of Copper Wood, the smile that had crept onto his face as he had watched the setting sun cast a myriad of colours of the woodland fading as he studied his well-dressed companions.

For a moment, he stayed silent, mouth tightening into a line, and then he nodded as if in resignation. “Yes, Michael.” The man that had been standing against the tree watching him took several steps towards him, his lean figure clad in an expensive black suit, his platinum blond hair topping a face so handsome as to appear feminine, ice blue eyes staring back at David.

“Are you certain? You don’t sound too sure.” Sighing, David turned away, studying the orange glow of the sun upon the trees, then he nodded and glanced black. “I am certain…it’s just…” Michael nodded at him in understanding. “Ah, you are wondering if this is the right way.” “Yes,” David admitted, wincing as he spoke. “It all seems a little savage…” “You do remember what they did?” “Of course, I remember,” David snapped at him, then shook his head, his palms rising before him as he sighed once again.

“I am sorry… yes, I remember what they did, but perhaps the law…” “The police would let them go,” Michael stated, nodding as if to lend his words strength, his eyes boring into those of the priest. “And if not them the courts.” “I know, but…” The well-dressed man smiled sadly. “These animals killed a young innocent woman through their actions, David.

Who will punish them if not you?” The priest sent him a hopeful look, but he shook his head, spreading his hands before him. “Ah, alas, I am afraid that I cannot allow myself to become directly involved in this, David.” “I understand. So, this is the only way?” Michael nodded. “Leviticus 24:17 – And he that killeth any man shall surely be put to death.” “Matthew 5:38-39…ye have heard it hath been said, An eye for an eye, and a tooth for a tooth: But I say unto you, That ye resist not evil: but whosoever shall smite thee on thy right cheek, turn to him the other also!”
