Loving Like Christ – Nelson Schuman

Extreme sacrifice and tribulation that is willingly endured by someone for another usually equates to an extreme anointing in ministry to change thousands of lives. It can be extremely hard when that person does not change day after day, month after month and year after year and even gets more controlling, demanding and abusive. There will be times that you say out loud, “God – I can’t do this anymore!” and when you do – think about what Jesus did for us as he took lash after lash over and over when He had the ability to just speak a word and be taken from the abuse He gave Himself up for.

If Jesus can do it….so can you. At times it will be the hardest thing in the world that you will do, but remember as you endure it your spirit will gain strength and the Lord will eventually bless you greatly for your sacrificing of your life and laying it down. John 15:12-15 NJKV, “ 12 This is My commandment, that you love one another as I have loved you. 13 Greater love has no one than this, than to lay down one’s life for his friends.

14 You are My friends if you do whatever I command you. 15 No longer do I call you servants, for a servant does not know what his master is doing; but I have called you friends, for all things that I heard from My Father I have made known to you.” When we give up our life’s comforts, peace and desires for a season we will become a closer friend of the Lord and there is nothing that He will not do to bless and honor you for your sacrifice.

The greater the suffering for another person the greater the favor that He will bless you with both here on earth as well as when you get to heaven as long as you do not complain constantly throughout the season. To truly become like Christ requires that we go through suffering and persecution, and although it is not fun to have your main persecutor be your spouse – many times that is exactly the case.
