A Wheelie Awkward Romance – Tess Campbell

Touch: It doesn’t have to be this specifically, but consistently allowing something like letting me hold your hand or riding in my lap. I know you’ve let me put my arm around you, but I’m sorry, that isn’t enough for me; it’s something I could do with my sister or roommates. If we are to take a step forward, there would need to be times where you’ll share with me physical tokens of commitment.
I’m not asking you to kiss me. Particularly after my yelling on Friday, I don’t feel like I’d have enough trust to merit you taking such a step with me just yet. But I’d love it if you actually liked physical contact and reached out to me sometimes—at a minimum, I’d need to know it’s something you’re encouraging me to do because you want me to know I’m appreciated.
Acknowledgment of my responsibility: This one I’ve probably explained the least, although we’ve argued about it a few times. But I’ll try to explain here. It seems like when things go wrong in your life, almost regardless of circumstance, you immediately take all the blame and beat yourself up about it. I’m not saying this to criticize you but to share how your taking all the blame affects me (outside of how sad it is to see you or anyone tear themselves down).
I don’t think I always do everything right. I plan to make mistakes. But I want to grow from them. I need someone who will help me see my side of a problem so I can learn and grow too. There are times with you when I feel like I’m just repeatedly sticking my finger in an electrical socket, but when I try to learn from it, you won’t help me understand why.
Since you’re important to me and I don’t want to give up, I don’t really have any other options than to stick my finger in again to see if I can learn why. This hasn’t felt like a particularly effective technique.
