“And the Gatekeeper’s role,” I added, looking at my marked palms, “is to maintain that balance.” Victoria nodded. “The Gatekeeper and the five familiars serve as living regulators of this system. When properly bonded, they can adjust the flow between realms as needed.” “But Malphas wants to disrupt this,” Zane interjected. “To merge the realms completely.” “Which would give him access to power beyond imagination,” Victoria confirmed grimly.

“He understands the system better than anyone. He’s been preparing for this return for centuries.” A deafening crack of thunder interrupted her explanation. The building shook, and through the windows, we could see a massive lightning storm gathering directly over Raven’s Peak. Unlike natural storms, this one remained stationary. Bolts repeatedly struck the same spot on the cliffs. “The Third Gate,” Morgaine whispered. “Air.” We watched in horrified fascination as bolt after bolt struck the cliffs.

Each flash left a lingering trace of electricity until they formed a distinct archway of crackling energy. Even from this distance, I could hear fragments of sound emanating from the gate. I picked up snippets of conversations, music, and voices from other dimensions. “Three gates are now active,” Victoria noted gravely.

“The fourth will follow soon.” My stomach twisted into a knot. “I need to commune with the air gate,” I said while calculating how quickly I could reach Raven’s Peak. “Before more demons cross over.” “Not yet,” Victoria replied. “You’re still recovering from the first two communions. Rushing into a third could kill you.” I opened my mouth to argue, but was interrupted by Aldritch bursting into the chamber. His weathered face was pale.

“The jar is gone,” he announced. “Blackwood’s essence has been stolen from the vault.” A hushed murmur spread through the room. Victoria’s expression hardened. “How did this happen?” “The vault was secure,” Aldritch insisted. “All protective measures were in place. Yet somehow, the jar vanished without triggering a single alarm. The only trace left behind was this.” He held up a pristine business card. Victoria took it. Her brow furrowed as she read the text aloud, “The Balance Must Be Maintained.

And below that there is an invitation to meet at midnight at the abandoned amusement park on the north shore.” “It’s a trap,” Valerie stated flatly. I didn’t like that woman one bit. I couldn’t tell what she was. Other than Zane’s ex. “Obviously,” I agreed.

“But one we can’t ignore.

The path forward may be shrouded and steep, but each step you take away from those gates is an act of defiance against despair—a declaration that your story is not finished, and that somewhere beyond the shadows lies the dawn you have yet to see.”

~Eliza Grey 1kitap1.com/en T CHAPTER 1 he rebuilt floorboards creaked under my feet as I wandered through my kitchen at two in the morning. I was nursing a mug of tea and trying to convince myself that the unusual quiet of the past three months was a good thing. Just your standard post-apocalyptic decompression period. Nothing suspicious about that at all. Yeah, I wasn’t buying it either. It was going to be a mess when the other shoe finally dropped. “You’re pacing again,” Vesper, one of my familiars, observed from his perch on the refrigerator.

His midnight fur was nearly invisible against the darkness. Only his silver runes gave him away. They pulsed with subtle light as he tracked my movement. “It’s becoming a habit.” “Can you blame me?” I gestured at the pristine kitchen around me. “Three months ago, demons were trying to drown Saltcliff. This house was practically destroyed. Now everything’s just…

normal.” “And normal is suspicious?” My familiar yawned, showing off needle- sharp teeth. “On this island? Absolutely.”
