“Hey, what are you guys talking about?” He pointed at Joker. “That’s what HBDs are for. Send Joker to activate the doomsday bomb.” Joker’s orbs glowed, “I mean this with all due respect, Sergeant. Screw you!” “He can’t,” Warner said. “Safety protocols won’t allow a robotic AI to activate an antimatter EDD. Only a human can do it.” “Fine,” Moody said. “I’ll come too. We can all die together.” “No,” Warner said carefully. “You stay here, Moody. I want you to take the sync core and get it back to Turkana.

That’s an order.” Gortz glanced between all of us. “Don’t look at me. I’m not volunteering for shit!” Joker wheezed, “That’s the spirit. Someone has to remain behind to tell the tale! Hell of a story when you’re drinking at the Legion VA bar back in Mudhole, Mississippi.” “You’re not funny, Joker.” Buzz’s cranium turned from the door gun, “He’s right, Joker. You’re not funny.” Joker spun on the Aerospace HBDs, “Hey! Aren’t you two due to be mind-wiped?” Bolt never took his optics off the cosmos.

“He’s so mean.” 1kitap1.com/en Starlord Four One Approaching Presskri Frigate – Karith Bellatrix Star System The SPIE rig, or officially known as the Special Patrol Insertion/Extraction system, is essentially a long rope equipped with D- rings. It was developed in the 1960s during some obscure war on Earth. The SPIE rig was as low-tech as someone from the twenty-sixth century could go. Flash and I hooked ourselves to the rig with Warner below us while we floated out of the AAV-15 Raptor.

We were festooned with weapons. M19 Stratos plasma subguns to go with our M216C carbines, loaded with the high-capacity power packs and 10mm Black Tips. I also had the Thumper grenade launcher slung over my shoulder. Joker climbed out last and hooked up above Flash and said, “This is so twentieth century.” As Starlord nudged the thrusters gently, the line flexed out, and we were hanging like fruit on a stem.

A blue-green marble, not unlike Earth, with swirling clouds, vast oceans, and lush landscapes perfect for agriculture and cattle. Of course, the military’s official designation for Bellatrix was Gamma Orionis, but few called it that. Starbase Orion orbited Athena like a layered fortress. Three one- kilometer globes, stacked vertically, fifty docking arms jutting out like spears, forming a bristling three-kilometer-long structure.

Capable of supporting all logistical needs for a Terran Federation Fleet or operational sector, Starbase Orion serves as the farthest force protection asset and the tip of the spear for the Terran Federation Armed Forces, positioned this far out in the cosmos. The pristine planet below was discovered more than a decade ago. Bellatrix, 250 light-years from Earth, was one of the most resource-rich, metal-heavy systems discovered in a generation.

With two alien races also vying for their share of the twenty-two planets and a thousand moons orbiting the Bellatrix Star System, the Terran Federation had to quickly plant their flag and colonize Athena. Colonial transports arrived almost weekly. Already, more than half a million humans lived on Athena. Much of it resulted from forced colonization. Disgruntled agitators from three of Earth’s continents. Families were uprooted and relocated here, while contracted merchant shipping constantly struggled to keep pace with the demand for food and supplies.

It was never enough.
