I’ve never had to worry about getting that family seal of approval, or lack thereof, so Silas taking me to meet his grandfather is a much bigger deal to me than he realizes. “You can never go wrong with a cute dress and some strappy sandals to go with it.” Ivy is standing in her closet now, flipping through her many dresses. “You don’t want to show up with your tits out, so I’m thinking this cute, boho-maxi dress vibe is the way to go.”

She holds up a dress I haven’t seen before. It’s a pale pink, with an assortment of daisies that cover the entire dress in mustard yellows, turquoise blues, and deep, rich browns. The sleeves are flowy, stopping just at the elbows, and the neckline is high enough to cover my cleavage without making me look like I just walked out of the Victorian Era.

“I can tell by how your eyes light up that you love it! I knew it was perfect!” Ivy squeals while jumping up and down in excitement. “I saw this dress a few weeks ago and it just screamed ‘Florence’ to me! I was saving it for your birthday, but meeting your new beau’s family is just a tad bit more important, so I’ll allow you to have it early.

Now tell me you love me, and try it on so I can see it on you before I leave!” She tosses the dress at me and shoos me into her bathroom, closing the door loudly behind me. I put the dress on and look at myself in her full length mirror. She’s right; this dress really is perfect. 1kitap1.com/en Chapter Twenty SILAS HAS ONE HAND on the wheel of his blue truck, and his other hand is clutched in mine as we listen to Old Dominion serenade us over the speakers.

We’re both singing at the top of our lungs as we drive down the highway toward Silas’s grandpa’s house. They live on the same land but in separate houses, making them the cutest grandpa/grandson duo I’ve ever heard of.
