Black Mafia Queen – Dr Tonesa Welch

“Hi, I’m Toni, and this is Terry.” “May I show you both to the master bedroom?” she asked politely. We nodded, still astonished by the place, as she led us away and up a flight of stairs. It was more breathtaking than I expected. I thought that the pictures didn’t quite capture the majestic views or picturesque loft-style master bedroom, with a view overlooking the pool, and an even more mesmerizing ocean view at its elevated vantage point.
Eric and his girlfriend, Mecho, would join us at the main residence. Originally from Florida, Eric met Terry and Meech through Tara, Meech’s longtime girlfriend, who was also Mecho’s cousin. Eric came with the nominal amount of $50,000 cash to buy work from the brothers, which didn’t impress Meech, but Terry found the money useful when he needed to shore up cash to pay creditors, much to the dismay of his brother.
I had an inkling that he did it just to spite his brother, as they had a growing rivalry. Meech disliked Eric, who was dirty and lacked teeth when we met him. He did not fit the caliber of people the brothers were normally known to associate with. For Terry, it was less a business-savvy move of recognizing a rising star, and more of a calculated one to get under his brother’s skin.
Nonetheless, Eric quickly climbed the ranks and became one of Terry’s closest advisors. Eric could be charming and likable, but I found him at times to be loud and obnoxious. He often caused discomfort as his influence increased over Terry’s own decisions and ability to manage the ever-growing empire, which we had taken years to create and risked everything to build. Mecho, a dark chocolate–skinned girl, also from Florida, was very different.
Polite and observant, she was the complete opposite of “Peaches,” the girlfriend of Terry’s childhood friend and second in charge, Pig.

At first, in 2012, coming straight out of prison, I felt it was not clear why or what I had to contribute to the world. The thoughts in my head were: What had I done? What did I have to share? What more was there to talk about besides my rise and fall? What was I proud of?
I had a lot of work to do understand about me and my life. I was afraid. I didn’t know if I was at the beginning of my life or the end. I prayed this life I returned to couldn’t be it. I knew and trusted my God that He wasn’t finished with me yet. I held on to hope for the future and the next generation; and when I authored a book, I wanted to give people, especially my beautiful granddaughters, something more.
