Bound By Vows – Sady A

Aldo hissed, his grip on the bag tightening until his knuckles turned white. “She’s in pain, Gianna! How can you just–” “She’s in pain because of him!” Gianna cut in, her voice low but fierce. “He… after you left, he–he hurt her. And right now, he’s watching us. If you go up, he’ll take it out on her.” Aldo’s hands shook as he gritted his teeth. “He hurt her?!” Without thinking, he took a step toward Xavier, before his mind even caught up.
“Stop!” Gianna’s hand shot out, gripping his arm and yanking him back. “You’ll make a scene!” Aldo wrenched against her hold, eyes blazing, chest heaving. “I don’t care! He–” Across the room, Xavier’s lips curved into a small, sharp smirk, eyes flicking between them. He seemed almost… amused. Aldo froze for a split second, just long enough to see the smirk. “That bastard…” he muttered under his breath, muscles still tense, fists twitching.
Gianna’s grip didn’t loosen, holding him back from doing something he might regret. Aldo’s fists tightened at his sides. Every instinct screamed at him to ignore Gianna, to storm across the ballroom and confront Xavier. His knuckles whitened as he stared at the man who had hurt Sofia, his mind a swirl of rage and helplessness. “Why should I wait?”
he growled, voice low but sharp. “She’s in pain! He… he can’t just–” “Shh!” Gianna pressed a hand to his chest, holding him back. “I know it’s hard, but rushing in now… it won’t help her. Trust me. Let me handle it. Let me protect her until it’s safe.” Aldo’s chest heaved. Every muscle in his body tensed as his eyes flicked back to Xavier, whose smirk never faltered. That smug, unreadable gaze sent a jolt of frustration through him. “I… I can’t just stand here!”
Aldo said, voice cracking slightly, torn between fury and caution. “You can,” Gianna said firmly, “and you must. If you don’t, you’ll make it worse. And she… she can’t handle more right now.” Aldo clenched his teeth, swallowing hard, but the fire in his eyes didn’t dim. Xavier’s gaze lingered on him, and that smirk, the arrogance in it made his blood boil even more. 1kitap1.com/en ˚ʚ♡ɞ˚ 1kitap1.com/en A hush fell over the ballroom.
Conversation faltered mid-sentence as every head turned toward the entrance. Even Xavier’s gaze shifted, sharp and alert, as the figure of Matteo Colombo appeared at the top of the grand staircase. Xavier’s jaw tightened imperceptibly.
For those who know what it means to survive in silence. This story may be fiction, but the pain of real people is not. I want to dedicate a moment of remembrance to the people of Palestine, whose strength in the face of unimaginable hardship is a testament to resilience and hope. May their voices be heard, their wounds healed, and their freedom found. -SADY A. 1kitap1.com/en CHAPTER ONE ˚ʚ♡ɞ˚ 1kitap1.com/en IN THE CITY OF WOLVES The city was alive, even in darkness.
Not alive in the way of laughter spilling from cafés or couples strolling under streetlamps, no, New York pulsed like a wounded animal, twitching and snarling in its sleep. Sirens threaded through the cold air, the metallic tang of rain clung to the asphalt, and somewhere in the maze of alleys a man screamed. In the shadows, the streets had their own hierarchy.
Rats scurried beneath the kings, and the kings ruled without crowns, their power marked instead by the weight of their names. And there was one name that made even the most ruthless men step back. Xavier Colombo. In a city of wolves, he was the one the others feared to challenge. Tonight, the hunt was his. Tyler’s lungs burned as he stumbled through a rain-slick alley, his boots splashing through shallow puddles. The ache in his ribs throbbed with every breath, but he kept going, kept glancing over his shoulder, hoping to see nothing.
But nothing wasn’t what followed him. Footsteps echoed behind him. Slow. Measured. Not the frantic pounding of a pursuer desperate to catch up, this was worse. This was the sound of someone certain they already had him. Tyler turned into the skeletal remains of an abandoned junkyard, weaving between rusting cars and heaps of twisted metal.
His hands shook as he gripped the wall for balance. He had nowhere left to run. Then the footsteps stopped. And from the dark, Xavier stepped forward. Black leather jacket, black gloves, black eyes that didn’t glint but absorbed the light, everything about him was deliberate, controlled.
Behind him came three shadows, his men. Dario and Enzo flanked the alley like wolves closing in. Aldo hung back, his expression unreadable, but his gaze sharp. Tyler’s voice broke as he sank to his knees. “Please, Mr. Colombo… they set me up. I swear to God, it wasn’t me.” Xavier didn’t speak. He simply watched, that still terrifying watchfulness of a predator letting its prey exhaust itself before the kill.
