He couldn’t wait to put that bag on CJ’s head. Saint tossed his duffle bag onto the bed and dropped to his knees. He slid it under the bed, hiding it where no one would think to look. Leon had schooled him good on the game—CJ was the head of the cartel, the puppet master behind all the chaos. Saint knew the play: murk CJ, and the whole family would fall. He flopped back onto the bed, the springs squeaking like they hadn’t been touched in years.

This room smelled like sex and cigarette smoke. Saint would never stay in a place like that under normal circumstances, however, he didn’t want to stay anywhere inside of the city. He couldn’t run the risk of bumping into the opposition. He grabbed his phone from the nightstand, thumb hovering over Aries’s name—his heart pulled in two different directions. It had been months since he heard her voice, and God knows he missed her. He pressed call, praying for something different this time, but all he got was that same cold voicemail.

It hit him like a gut punch. Then the thought of her making the call to kill his loved one played with his mind. “Fuck it,” he muttered, tossing the phone aside. This was it; no more wasting time chasing ghosts. He had a street beef to prepare for, and it was time to focus on CJ.

A sneaky move against the head nigga, and meeting Baby Tee was step one. Their old beef could be the very thing to turn into an alliance. Saint could feel it in his bones—“An enemy of my enemy is a friend of mine,” he thought to himself. Laying on the bed, he ran the play through his mind like a well- rehearsed script.

Miami was a jungle of grime and blood money, and he was ready to carve his name in it. Baby Tee had the connections and know-how, and if Saint played his cards right, he could walk away with the upper hand. Leon broke down Baby Tee’s power, so Saint was well informed on his influence in the city.

As the flaming hotel light cast silhouettes on the walls, Saint closed his eyes. He knew that his life was about to get chaotic and dangerous, but still favorable if he played it right. Tomorrow was the day he pushed his domino to start knocking shit down in Miami. He would make his move and show the streets how he got down. With that thought riding his mind, he let himself drift off.

**** The sun was beaming, and the degrees was just over ninety. Saint, Zoo, and Leon drove the streets of Lil Haiti, the neighborhood alive with the sounds of booming music and loud banter. They were on their way to meet Baby Tee at a Haitian jerk spot, a risky play that could change the game for them.

“Its takes more time when you write from within. Thank you to the readers for your patience while I wrote this book…in cursive. I appreciate your loyalty more than you know.“ —JaQuavis Coleman 1kitap1.com/en Dedicated to Frenchie….. “I truly adore you” 1kitap1.com/en PROLOGUE Dead bodies swung slowly, hanging from the streetlights that towered twenty feet above the scorching concrete. Each light fixture, harnessing a member of the Murder of Crows. The victim’s heads were swollen three times their original size as their blood clotted eyes bulged out of their heads.

Their eyes now looked like bloody red marbles. With ropes wrapped around each one of their necks, their bloated skin overlapped the twine. Their souls had left their bodies and were well on its way to its next stop. “Strange fruit” some would call it, however there was no scent of sweet nectar.

Instead, the air reeked of blood and the overpowering pungent smell of dead carcasses. It was a gruesome and surreal sight. It mimicked a scene from a horror film, as puddles of blood were beneath each body. Their bodies had nearly bled out, as the maroon-colored spill was now reduced to a drip. Drip Drip Drip Residents of the small Caribbean town found out the hard way that the legend of The Cartel was real. A dark cloud hovered over the city as patrons of the community gathered amongst themselves on the dreary street.

Some people stared with their hands over their mouths disgusted, while others turned their heads in disbelief, not being able to stomach the gruesome sight. The area was taped off as the island police were left scratching their heads in dismay, wondering how this could happen in broad daylight. Police from the next town over were called in to assist because the island currently didn’t have a sheriff. They hadn’t any idea what was going on, but the town’s people knew exactly what happened. The Cartel came into town and handled their business in grand fashion.

The smell of death lingered in the air and The Murder Mamas were back active. Detectives and officers asked questions but their inquiries fell on deaf ears. As the townspeople knew to keep their mouths closed to matters not pertaining to them. No one talked to cops ever, especially not against their own.

They all knew that the local gang Murder of Crows had just felt the wrath of Aries. For she had just lost a son and she was out for blood. She vowed to make whomever had anything to do with it to suffer. This was her first act… **** Saint stood with his arms folded into his chest, leaning onto the kitchen sink. He watched as a team of cleaners vigorously scrub his living room.
