“Wow,” says | ad Clarabelle. “Coco sure can mooove! Coco comes in second place! “Eeek, eeek!” shouts Coco as Clarabelle gives her a prize. After that, Mickey, Daisy, and Coco join in a game of musical chairs. Coco wins! “A-hyuck!” Goofy laughs “Well, it’s my birthday,” says Goofy, “so | plan to eat as much as | can!”
After playing at the dunk tank, Coco’s mom helps her check her blood sugar. Then they decide what Coco will eat at the party. Coco and Minnie each have birthday cake and ice cream. Goofy has birthday cake … and ice cream… and cookies …and lemonade, too. When they’re finished, Coco says, “Eeek!” She’s ready for more fun! Goofy says, “Gawrsh.” He’s ready for a nap.

Your body needs insulin in order to use the food that you eat for energy. You need energy to do all sorts of things, such as reading, running, and playing. Coco takes her insulin every day to help her body use the food that she eats.
Do you have any questions about type 1 diabetes? Why does Coco wear a bracelet with the word DIABETES on it? Coco always wears her diabetes bracelet so that others will know she has type 1 diabetes. That way, they will be able to take care of her in case she ever needs help. Do you wear a necklace, a bracelet, or a sports band that says you have diabetes?
Pa What kinds of foods can Coco eat with type 1 diabetes? It’s important for everyone to eat foods that are good for them. Coco likes eating foods that help her stay healthy, such as fruits and vegetables. She also likes eating treats, such as cake and ice cream, on special occasions.
But certain foods are not as healthy as others and can make your blood sugar higher. It’s best to plan ahead and only eat those foods sometimes. Bananas are Coco’s favorite food. What is your favorite food?
