Renard’s desire vanished instantly, and his heart sank. What would happen to a nun who was caught in such sinful activities? Would she be expelled? Whipped? Burned? Involuntarily, he found himself more concerned about the girl sitting on his lap than about himself. He, the Fox of Auvergne, would always find a way to get his neck out of the noose, but her?

Oh dear! For what felt like an eternity, the other woman with the voluptuous hips and round face stood in the doorway, basking in her triumph. Then she stepped into the small cell, glanced briefly around the hallway, and finally closed the door behind her after she had entered completely. Her gaze was now just as lustful as that of the blonde girl earlier, who was still sitting naked on his lap.

Renard realized that this woman was by no means the danger he had suspected. In her eyes, he could see that she had no intention of betraying her fellow nun. She had something else in mind. “He asked for sanctuary. I can’t just send him away like that!” protested the petite Lucia, her delicate little breasts trembling with tension. “Of course not. And he was hungry, too, so you gave him food. He’s probably cold as well, so you’re warming his loins,” replied the other mockingly.

After three steps, she had already reached the table and chair where Renard was still sitting, even after Lucia had risen and covered her naked breasts and golden-blonde fleece with her arms and hands. The stern nun, whose ample hips were clearly visible under her habit, gently pushed Lucia aside and gave Renard a piercing look as he sat there staring like a burglar caught in the act.

Lucia’s trembling lips clearly wanted to produce an eloquent response, but she just stood there, wavering between shame and panic, unable to utter another sound.

His movements were more reminiscent of a rabid dog than the graceful leaps of a fox. However, the urgency of his escape was unmistakable. He made his living by stealing from the right people, and this time he had unfortunately chosen the wrong person.

In a small village, he had cut the purse from the belt of a man he mistakenly thought was a lazy, simple-minded, aristocratic fool. But only two of these characteristics applied to him: he was indeed of higher rank and certainly quite a fool, but this fellow, who turned out to be the feudal lord of this small strip of land in eastern Auvergne, was unfortunately far less lazy than Renard had hoped. Luckily for Renard, the man had at least been unable to catch him, even though he was far more alert and suspicious than the other nobles Renard had stolen from before.

With a heavy bag full of coins and his victim’s curses ringing in his ears, he fled across the market square, but before he knew it, he was being pursued by at least four bodyguards. The likelihood that his hand would be chopped off if he were caught was frighteningly high. His next task was therefore clear: run and don’t get caught, whatever the cost! Unfortunately, the nobleman was not only more attentive than any of his predecessors, but also more ambitious.

Instead of leaving it at angry curses, the baron’s men had taken up pursuit deep into the forests of Auvergne. What had initially seemed like a fun game to Renard was rapidly turning into a grueling chase that brought him to the brink of collapse. But if he gave up now, he would not only lose his freedom, but also the ability to pick the pockets of the next nobleman.
