After Ferrand-Prévot’s Tour victory last year threatened to be overshadowed by a debate over her weight loss, Vollering wrote an impassioned post on social media, warning of the dangers of disordered eating. “[It] can grow quietly and stay hidden for a long ƹĭŊÝÆƊƴƝħÝƴǫƏşƹÝżƴ She had been similarly outspoken a few months before, at La Vuelta %ÝŊÝŔĭŔ’ÆƴÍÝÍĭ´’ƹĭŔĔƴħÝƏƴƝƹ’ĔÝƴĆǪÝƴ victory to those struggling with their mental health. “For many people – especially young people – the mind ¥Ý´şŊÝƝƴƹşşƴƝƹƏşŔĔƴĭŔƴƹħÝƴǫƏşŔĔƴǫ’DZÆƊƴ she said. “It overwhelms, it isolates, it ǫĭŔƝƴƃǓĭÝƹĽDZżƊƴ.ƴƏݒÍƴƹħÝƴƃǓşƹÝƴ¥’´Ļƴƹşƴ her and ask what motivated it.

Women’s Day. In this issue we have focused mainly on the stories and personalities around women’s cycling. The elite women’s racing scene has become ever more established over the past six years, with the trickle- ÍşǫŔƴÝüÝ´ƹƴƝĽşǫĽDZƴúÝÝÍĭŔĔƴĭŔƹşƴ’ĽĽƴ aspects of the sport and industry and giving us more races and riders to feature in the magazine each week. This week, it’s world number one Demi Vollering. In our exclusive interview she talks to us not only about her undimmed racing ambitions ¥Ǔƹƴ’ĽƝşƴħşǫƴƝħÝƴƝƹĭĽĽƴǫ’ŔƹƝƴƹşƴ’üÝ´ƹƴ change. And why she believes it’s still necessary for the women at the top of the sport to take a lead on that.
