Daddys Promise A Daddy Daughter Noncon Short – Neve Nox

I cried myself to sleep last night. It’s something I haven’t done for years. I thought that these days I was stronger than that. But just like eight years ago, Romeo Bianchi made me vulnerable, then stabbed me in the heart. There’s something humbling about waking up in your childhood bedroom as a grown woman. My mom took down my Tacocat and X-Files posters years ago, but you can still see where they used to hang.
The sun bleaches everything in Cape sunset, even the walls of my room. My old bookshelves, crammed with Goosebumps books and the Twilight Saga are above my bed. I haven’t read any of those old books for years. Maybe it would be comforting to grab one sometime. Even my old desk is here.
Romeo and I carved our names into the underside of the wood top with pencils. Ro And Lia Forever it says, encased in an unbreakable heart. Yesterday, while we were kissing, it felt like maybe my heart was finally going to be healed. Like I was going to be able to put his picture back in the locket round my wrist.
But this morning, like my heart, it’s still empty. I stretch out, my feet dangling over the edge of my single bed. It’s barely big enough for me. It’s been too small for years. I remember asking Mom and Dad to buy me a bigger one when I’d hit seventeen. ‘You want to share it with Romeo Bianchi, no doubt.’
Mom had sternly said. ‘No chance, my dear. Not while you’re under my roof.’ To be honest, it’s more that I wanted to get lost in a bed that’s way too big for me. Makes me feel super little. I guess Mom was right about Romeo though, right from the start. Mom knows best, I guess. There’s a knock at the door and my mom’s voice sounds out. ‘Who wants pancakes?’ ‘Coming,’ I reply. I’ve got this really bad habit of falling asleep in my clothes, especially when I’m feeling a little fragile.
True enough, this morning, I’m still wearing the cornflower blue dress I’d had on last night. Had off last night, too. Not sure where the bow from my hair went. It’s probably still at the top of the lighthouse. I left it there with all my hopes and dreams. I can’t believe Romeo just stopped like that and left. I get it, he’s got important stuff to do. He told me, when we first met that he wasn’t in town for me.
I understand. But after all he said last night, that he wanted to fix our relationship, that he never got over me… It just hurts to realize that I’m not actually a priority for him.

CHAPTER 28 Also By Lucky Moon Copyright OceanofPDF.com A PROLOGUE AMALIA, 8 YEARS AGO CRACK. A FLASH. The ocean, lit white, then black as ink, the peaks of waves strobed by flickering lightning, dancing in the storm. What are the chances? After all the planning, all my anticipation, I’m gonna lose my virginity during a freaking hurricane.
Impatient, I slam the doorbell again, pull the yellow plastic hood of my raincoat further over my head. It helps, but only slightly. My hair is still soaking. I’m going to look like such a mess. Come on, Romeo! Answer the dang door! I’m soaking out here! I hope he doesn’t just laugh at me — at my hair.
It’s not the effect I was hoping for tonight. I quickly take out a mirror. The words that come to mind are: thoroughly drowned rat. It’s not just me that’s wet. I’ve got Cookie in my pocket. No, not a cookie, just Cookie. He’s my stuffie — a deep chocolate brown teddy that goes everywhere with me. I’ve got the pocket sealed up, but I just know that rain’s getting in.
And Cookie hates getting wet. ‘Sorry, Cookster,’ I say, looking up at the lighthouse, which stretches into the sky. Shafts of light slowly flash out across the ocean from the beacon at the top.
