Even though I tried to act normal this morning, David picked up on my nervousness. He reassured me in every way he could, and the morning together was wonderful. We had breakfast, and then he took me hard in the shower, a memory that I know will carry us both through the next few days. I managed to convince him that tonight and tomorrow night, I need to sleep alone in my own home.

We’ve spent the last two nights together, and while it was amazing, I want to take things slower this time. That’s not possible if we keep staying over at each other’s places. He protested and refused to accept it, but I stood my ground. Even in the car this morning on our way to the office, he tried a few more times to convince me, but I didn’t budge. He eventually went to his office, sulking, but not long after, I received a message from him wis- hing me good luck and inviting me to join him for lunch.

I accepted the invitation, but for now, I’m focused on catching up on the moun- tain of work that accumulated in my absence. It’s overwhelming, but I lose myself completely in the tasks. Time slips away as I methodically work through everything. This is what I’m good at, and as I focus, all the self-doubt fades. I know the effect Blaze had on me, how he made me feel worthless and incapable. But David makes me feel the exact opposite.

Just as I’m smiling to my- self, with thoughts of him filling my mind, I startle. I look up to find myself staring directly into his blue eyes, which aren’t filled with their usual warmth and affection. “I thought we had a lunch date,” he says. I open my mouth to respond, but then I glance at the clock on my desk. I’m twenty minutes late. “I’m so sorry,” I say, standing quickly. “I got so caught up in my work.

I’ve been trying to tackle all the backlog this morning.” His expression softens.

As their world seems to crumble and setbacks pile up, love manages to endure amidst the chaos, but will it be enough? Will everything they hold dear collapse under the immense pressure? Or, like a diamond, will their world only grow more beautiful? The story contains graphic erotic scenes. OceanofPDF.com Chapter 1 Oscar “We need five million. Now! No, seven million,” I shout desperately, my brothers holding me back.

I don’t even know who I’m yelling at, but someone has to act. “I need seven million!” The panic coursing through me is overwhelming, unlike anything I’ve ever felt before. Not even that time when she called, trembling, as she sheltered from an approaching tornado. I was terrified then, yes, but it pales in comparison to what I feel now. “Oscar.”

My lawyer, James, steps in front of me. “Take a moment. Try to calm down. Explain what’s happening, and we’ll find a solution.” “It’s very simple,” I rasp, the taste of bile rising in my throat. “I need seven million in cash as quickly as possible. That shouldn’t be difficult. It’s not as if we’re short on cash.” “But what’s going on?” I hear Benjamin ask, his voice taut with fear.

His wide eyes flit from David to me. “Can someone tell me who has Harlow? And Mom? How?” James and Benjamin look at us, bewildered, their confusion deepe- ning with each passing second. David rubs his face in frustration, a gesture that speaks volumes. “There’s no time to explain everything,” I snap. “Harlow’s been kid- napped. I have to get her back.

She’s in danger.” “Then this is a matter for the police,” James declares firmly. “We need to go to the station.” I shake my head violently. “No police. That will only make things worse. If we can just get the money—” “That doesn’t solve anything, Oscar,” James retorts. “Who took her? Do you know them?” I glance at David, who has yet to say a word. From the corner of my eye, I see him pull out his phone and raise it to his ear. “Are you at home?”

he murmurs. “Stay inside. It’s important. Don’t let anyone in except me. I mean it, Max. Don’t be stubborn right now.” He falls si- lent for a moment. “Just do as I say.”
