Fates Series Book 2 – A Winx

Niharika patted her shoulder “don’t worry Minu! God is great, He will definitely answer our prayers!” Minakshi nodded and her gaze shifted to Dhruv who was looking at them with confused expression. “Why did you get him here?”she demanded. Niharika held her hand “just once please! You know how close they are, let him meet her once and I’ll send him home”. Minakshi looked at Prateek who nodded “of course”.
Dhruv smiled at them and made his way towards the huge bed where Lekha had been slept in. “Likhi?”he whispered as she had closed her eyes. Hearing his voice, she immediately opened her eyes “Dhruvi!”she squealed happily “when did you come?” “Just now” he murmured, looking at her right hand. The IV cannula had been inserted into the back of her hand and she looked weak..and pale.
He stroked her hand “does it hurt?” She smiled “in the beginning, I screamed but now it’s okay”. He smiled back “I’ve got something for you” he took out a small stone and handed it to her. She widened her eyes “what is it?” It was a shining stone and she touched it softly. “It’s a topaz, dad got it for me..told me that this is a positive stone..it makes your dreams come true..I want you to keep it” he said.
She glowed at that “really? This is mine?” He nodded “it will keep you safe and healthy..make you feel better soon..”. She slowly hugged him “thank you Dhruvi! You’re so sweet”. He blushed but hugged her too. “He’s really fond of her” Niharika told Minakshi who was silently watched their conversation. “Yeah…I don’t understand..she never smiled like this the day we brought her here” Minakshi couldn’t help but feel happy about it.
“She’ll be fine, I’m fully confident the surgery will a success” Niharika consoled her. Minakshi nodded, clasping her hand as well… Back home, before going to bed, Dhruv closed his eyes and said a silent prayer..for her… ◇◇◇◇◇ Of all the rooms Dhruv had seen in this house, Lekha’s was far more interesting, probably because she had got it designed herself and also because the designs kept changing every year.
There was a four poster canopy bed, with floral curtains draped over it, like in fairy tales. Even the window curtains were floral, what’s with this girl and flowers? he mused. He sat on the edge of the bed and looked around..where the hell was this girl and what was she up to?
He lazily loomed over her dressing table which was adorned with cosmetics of various kinds, and saw something glittering on the edge. He leaned closer and saw that it was a stone, and by the looks of it the topaz. His heart skipped a beat, he took it in his hand and turned it around; there was no mistaking it.

PHEONIX ARIZONA The journey to the desert park wasn’t an easy one. The road was paved with stones and rocks mostly and the thorny shrubs didn’t help either. And yet the three cousins raced together up the steep trail as fast as they could. “You guys are wuss!” Dhruv screamed, suddenly running ahead of them. “No way!” Laksh, his cousin yelled after him, “Get ready to lose!” Dhruv was way ahead of them, followed by Laksh who was still in the lead but slightly behind whereas Nikhil, Dhruv’s older brother was almost far behind than either of them.
Dhruv had already reached the peak, waving at the losers who had drained up all the energy when they sauntered along the rocky slope and reached the top. “Seriously dude!” Laksh panted, joining him at the peak “did you drink red bull or what? You have the energy of a cheetah!” Dhruv laughed and looked at his older brother who had collapsed next to him “don’t ever agree to keep a competition with him” Nikhil pointed at Dhruv “he’s a maniac!”
Laksh grinned, despite himself and shook his hand, nearly wringing it “I’ll kill you for even suggesting it!” Dhruv didn’t care “you’ll thank me later morons!” he pointed down. They took a good look at it and gasped in awe “oh God!” Nikhil whistled “this is really awesome man!”
The view below them was indeed incredible as they stared in wonder at the landscape neatly stretched below the terrain where they were standing. “We should come here more often” Laksh suggested, taking a seat on one of the rocks, looking clearly impressed. “No way!” Nikhil shook his head in irritation “I’m not coming to this desert ever!” “What about you Dhruvi?” Laksh grinned “not coming back?” Dhruv stood on the topmost rock and threw his hands in the air “I think I’ll come here” he winked “but with a girl, someone special to me and then we’ll make out in this very rock, trust me”.
