It’d been years since she’d last seen Dominic, Paul’s brother. He was an older version of Paul, though he had deeper lines on his face, and most of his black hair had turned gray, whereas Paul had only a few strands jutting through his locks. “I work here,” Dom replied, pointing to the badge attached to his scrubs.

“I’m surprised to see you here. I didn’t think you lowered yourself to visiting Clarington these days. You certainly haven’t bothered to stop by and see me or Aunt Esperanza in the past twenty-plus years, Paulo.” Paul gritted his teeth. “Prison isn’t really my scene.” Dom stiffened at that. “That was a long time ago. I’ve grown up a lot since then. Have you?” Paul didn’t respond. He tightened his hold on Kyleigh’s waist, pulling her over to where Holly, James, Tyler and Meg waited at the end of the hall.

James was busy flirting with Bryan, the security guard. Tyler and Meg were in their own world, whispering sweet or sarcastic nothings to each other. Only Holly had observed the altercation, questions on her face that Kyleigh knew Paul wouldn’t answer for anyone, let alone her daughter. “So how’s married life going so far?” Tyler asked once they were all together. “She hasn’t killed me yet,” Paul replied with an attempt at humor. “Though I think Paul tried to off me,” Kyleigh returned. “He took me to Wine & Stuff yesterday.”

Paul glared at Tyler. “Yeah, thanks for suggesting it.” “You didn’t,” Meg said, lightly elbowing her husband in the stomach. “He took me there once. I thought I was going to die.” “Note to self, never trust Tyler again,” Paul muttered. He glanced back to where his brother had been. Dominic was gone, probably checking on one of his patients.

“Bryan is about to go on break,” James said. “We’re going to head to the hospital cafeteria for a quick bite.” He held up the pasties he’d stolen from Dylan. “Anyone want to join us?”

Paul leaned closer to her, so close he could smell the sweet caramel scent of coffee on her lips. She instantly stilled as her eyes lifted to his, a question there. He didn’t know why he’d gotten into her personal space, only that he couldn’t step away now that he was there. Against his better judgement, he reached out and twirled a strand of her blond hair around his finger, feeling the silky texture of it, before he tucked it behind her ear.

Her hair was just as soft as he remembered. Kyleigh looked at him, as if unsure. “Why’d you do that?” He lifted a shoulder. “Because I wanted to.” Somewhere in the background, Paul heard Gregori moving, getting a better shot of them. It was background noise that wouldn’t distract him as he enjoyed the nearness of his wife. His wife. His mouth ticked upward. “Whether you like it or not, Mrs. Rodriguez, for the next ninety days, you’re mine.” OceanofPDF.com Dear Reader, Every boy band has a “bad boy,” and Paul Rodriguez has proudly accepted that label over the years.

When his reputation jeopardizes his position as host of First Comes Marriage, a reality TV show that marries strangers, he knows he’ll do anything to save his job. The show’s director decides to film their next season in Holiday Bay, the town where his career started. Paul is shocked to discover that one of the contestants is none other than Kyleigh Sinclair, his former high school girlfriend.

He decides to marry her himself, knowing that the predicted record ratings will secure his role. But as the two spend time together, Paul realizes that he’s ready to retire his bad-boy ways so he can win back the woman he never forgot. Now he has ninety days to convince Kyleigh that, this time, he’s not going to let her go. Paul is one of my favorite characters. On the surface, he seems like a one-dimensional figure who only cares about fame and everything that comes with it.

But once you realize what truly drives him, I think that most people can relate to him in some way. His story is about survival—that no matter what life throws at you, you find a way to keep going and push through. I hope you love Paul and Kyleigh as much as I do.
