Tessa. His Tessa. A baby he didn’t know about. A baby she never got to tell him about. A future that broke before it began. He staggered back, gripping the wall for support. His voice didn’t come. His thoughts didn’t come. Everything inside him shattered silently. The doctor continued, each word heavier than the last: “And due to the trauma her body went through… it’s unsafe for her to conceive for at least three years.”

Dylan covered his face with his hands. Pain slammed into him — raw, merciless, suffocating. Tessa… my love… you suffered alone… and I wasn’t there… But before he could speak— His security guard rushed to him, breathless, shaking. “Boss — I investigated the car.” Dylan lifted his head slowly, eyes hollow. “What about the car?” The guard hesitated, then said it: “Your brakes were tampered with.”

Dylan’s blood turned cold. The guard continued, voice tight with fear. “Sir… it was Victoria Hale. She planned for you to be in that car.” Dylan felt something inside him snap. Victoria. His ex-employee. The woman obsessed with him. The woman he rejected publicly. The woman who vowed revenge. She tried to kill him. But Tessa… Tessa was the one who drove the car. Tessa was the one who took the hit. Tessa was the one lying unconscious inside that room. A ringing sound filled Dylan’s ears. Anger, grief, guilt — everything crashed together.

The world around him blackened. His vision blurred. His breath vanished. He whispered her name once — broken, shattered. “Tessa…” And the world went completely dark. Dylan collapsed to the floor. The conference room buzzed with tension. Charts, projections, and financial reports covered the screen at the front. Everyone knew the company was on the edge of a massive loss if the next decision went wrong. Dylan Frost sat at the head of the long glass table, calm but sharp-eyed as always. CEO of Frost Innovations, he was known for his precision — the kind of leader whose presence made people sit straighter. Across the room sat Tessa Morgan, quietly listening, her notebook open, pen tapping softly. She had joined the company just a year ago, and though brilliant, she rarely spoke in big meetings.

Today, she could feel her heartbeat in her throat. One of the senior managers finished explaining a plan that, on paper, looked impressive — but Tessa could see the flaw instantly. If implemented, it would cost the company more than it could save. Dylan’s voice cut through the silence. “Any suggestions? Concerns?”

No one spoke. Tessa swallowed. And then—she raised her hand. The entire room turned. “Yes, Tessa?” Dylan asked, surprised. He remembered her as the quiet analyst with sharp eyes. Tessa stood slowly. “Sir… I think the proposed solution will actually cause a greater loss than we expect. But if we shift the partnership timeline and change the supply routing, we can reduce the cost by at least forty percent.” The room blinked. People whispered. She continued, more confidently now. “I’ve run the numbers three times. The risk becomes minimal, and the savings are immediate.”

For a moment, there was complete silence. Then Dylan leaned back in his chair, staring at her as if seeing her for the first time. “Tessa, come to the front.” She walked up, nervous but steady. Dylan projected her calculations onto the main screen. Within seconds, it was clear — she was right. Very right. The boss — Mr. Alden — stood up, clapping loudly.

“This—this is brilliant! This saves us millions. Everyone, a round of applause for Ms. Tessa Morgan!” The room erupted with claps. Tessa’s cheeks flushed as eyes turned toward her, impressed. Dylan smiled — a rare, genuine smile. “Well done,” he said softly when she returned to her seat. After the meeting ended and people began to pack their things, Tessa gathered her laptop, ready to escape the attention. But before she could leave, Dylan appeared beside her.

“Tessa,” he said. She looked up, startled. “Yes, Mr. Frost?” He shook his head lightly. “Dylan. Call me Dylan.” Her heart skipped a beat. He continued, voice warm but firm. “I owe you dinner. You just saved my company from a disaster. Let me take you out tonight.” Tessa blinked. Dinner? With him? “I—are you sure?”

she whispered. Dylan chuckled. “Absolutely.
