Holidays That Bite 5 Adventures – Sue Denver

dog… wanted to save you from that man, but she would have had to bite him. If she did that, the police would most likely come looking for a… wild dog… and she wouldn’t be able to see you any more. She really loves being your friend.” Suzy said, “She’s not really a dog, is she?” The woman looked at her and said, hesitantly, “then what is she?” “She’s a wolf.”
The woman gave a big smile. “You’re right. And you’re very smart. But that will be our secret, right? There are lots of people in this world who want to kill all the wolves — so we can’t let them know about her.” “Our secret,” Suzy said. “But… how come you’re naked?” The woman stood up and laughed. “I didn’t have time to dress. The wolf said you were in trouble.”
“Aren’t you cold?” The woman smiled. “My body temperature runs a little warmer than yours.” She turned to go, but Suzy said, “Do you live around here? Will I see you again?” “No. And probably not. But you will see the wolf. She likes you.”
Suzy hung her head. “It’s not safe to come here anymore, is it?” The woman stopped and came back. “Not until he’s gone. He’s a very bad man — I could smell what he wanted. But I’m going to check on him and he won’t be around long. He may be wanted by the cops. If so, I’ll make sure they know about him.
If he’s not wanted, then I’ll… well… I’ll take care of him another way. You can come back here when you learn he’s no longer at your RV park. Okay?” Suzy nodded. That night mom left Suzy some craft supplies on the RV dinning table. There was red paper and white lace and glue and colored pencils. It was just like what they used to use when she, dad and mom would make each other valentines.
Suzy worked hard to create the five prettiest valentines she’d ever made. They were gorgeous! Later Suzy went on her computer and googled human and wolf temperatures. Google said humans average 98.6 and wolves average 104- 105. Before she fell asleep, she saw red lights through the blinds on her window. She raised them and saw three police cars surrounding an RV across the tiny lake from her. They were flashing their lights, but there weren’t any sirens. Maybe they were taking the creepy guy away?
She hoped so.
“Sue Denver has written a fascinating character in Sara. She reminds me of Jane Yellowrock from Faith Hunter’s series, and in all the right ways: strong, aloof, in control of herself (until she isn’t), and mysterious.” MJ SILVERSMITH, DISCOVERY “Riveting, thought-provoking mysteries that go one step beyond the usual whodunit (or, who will do it) scenarios. It should go without saying, given this is a book about a werewolf, but just in case(!)… This book is a work of fiction. was used for the writing in this book. All images used come from photographs whose usage has been licensed by me or my designer (100 Covers). For example, the “transformation” image uses five different (licensed) photographs, two of the woman, two of the wolf, and one for the background. (Then a lot of creativity from the designer to make them work together!) I believe that creatives should be paid for their work. Period. OceanofPDF.com To my readers… It’s been just five years since I quit my job and started this series, and the one thing I never expected was the wonderful welcome I’ve received from all of you.
You encouraged me, pushed me, and staggered me with your kindness. You left reviews and posted comments on all the many different Facebook ads I kept testing and placing.
