All the members of the Board of Trustees/Directors must have updated tax clearance each year. All the board members should have up to date tax clearance from Federal Inland Revenue Service(FIRS). This is a new requirement which came about in 2016 and it is required that all board members who are trustees/directors have their personal tax clearance certificate. We know in Nigeria that a lot of people do notpay tax regularly and as a result they do not have tax clearance. This is important particularly when one is filing for an organizational tax clearance.

NGOs are mostly funded through donations while in some cases, it could be funded by private individuals, government, groups, as well as foundations.
Types of NGOs NGOs can be classified as for-profit and not-for-profit. 1. Not-For Profit – A non-profit organization is any organization that is established for the purpose of achieving a goal in the society and is not profit oriented. 2. For Profit – It is an organization that is established for business and it is profit oriented. Categories Of NGOS 1. Grassroots/Community-based organizations (CBOs)/Business Management Organizations (BMOs) These are organizations that are working in a particularly limited geographical or thematic area. They are mostly informal and do not have registration at the state level or CAC level.
