Knot Just A Wish – Maren Marlowe

Everything about this place puts my body at ease. It feels unexpectedly good to be this close to nature. It’s all a little surreal. Towards the end of our time together, Sage’s strong, warm arms wrap around me, surrounding me from behind. He rests his chin near my ear, head bent, soft and even breaths soothing as we slightly sway, wrapped together.
We don’t speak much. Just hold onto one another, enjoying where we are and appreciating the sounds around us joining in the majesty of the mountain range. Waves of contentment radiate from him with every happy sigh and little squeeze of his arms, his happiness to simply be here with me putting me even more at ease. Slowly, a smile paints itself onto my face with a wash of emotion. The forgotten, buried part of me that used to doodle hearts and dream of great love starts to stir awake with curiosity and hope, the longer his warmth seeps in and relaxes me.
I can’t help but open myself up a little more to the possible life and love story we might build together. The dream I had given up on. “Don’t worry, princess. I’ll see you soon,” Sage says with a smile. “Plus, something tells me you’re going to have a pretty good night.” I quirk an eyebrow at him, studying his face.
“And what does that mean?” I laugh a little, still half cuddle-drunk from his warm touches. “Just a feeling.” He winks, and my lower belly heats at the sight. He closes his eyes, groaning, and grabs my hips. “Sweetheart, if you keep perfuming like that, my alpha isn’t going to let me leave you here.” Biting his bottom lip with a slight shake of his head, he bends down pressing his mouth to mine, pushing for entrance with his tongue. The kiss is sensual but short-lived, a little to my disappointment.
“Fuck. I should go.” He traces his thumb over my cheek and jaw, his hand around the side of my neck. “I had such a great time getting to spend time with you today, Opaline. Thank you.” “Me too,” I answer truthfully. “Have a good night, omega.” He drops his hand from my neck, and I nearly have to fight my omega’s whimper that wants to come out at the loss of contact from our unexpectedly sweet, charming, hunk of an alpha.
Watching Sage turn the corner to the main entrance, I step into my new room, shutting the door, and gasp. There, sitting on my bed, is a beautiful dress, white shoes, a pink leather jacket, and a folded piece of paper with my name on it. “Oh my god…” How did they do this? I don’t understand when they could have possibly had time.
Rushing forward for the note, my eyes bounce to the bottom, seeing Calder’s signature.
