She was a vet; she kind of had to. Would she care when I disappeared? Would anyone? Even Holly kept her distance from me. I was losing everyone but gaining what? A chaotic demon willing to let me devastate the world. Sadness splashed my face with it\u2019s ice cold grip. I truly had no one to mourn me. Nobody would even notice.<\/p>\n

A week, a month. I was going to be a true crime story;a documentary on how bodies decay when left alone to the elements, abandoned by people. Forgotten. I rubbed my temples with my fingers. \u201cGet it together.\u201d I jabbed Simone\u2019s number into my cell, twitching fingers holding the phone.<\/p>\n

It shook, rang. Once. Twice. Third time\u2019s a charm. \u201cSimone Ravenscroft.\u201d What a beautiful name. Not like Lenora was plain or anything. \u201cHi, Simone. It\u2019s Lenora. I have questions?\u201d My voice shaky, unsure. \u201cIs that one of them?\u201d She chuckled, the distance making her voice soft. A laugh stuck in my throat. \u201cNo. Today I did something.\u201d Silence stretched more times than sourdough in the proofing phase.<\/p>\n
