Poor Martha. Just like Henry, she hadn\u2019t come into the computer age, and probably never would. \u201cI see,\u201d she said absently. \u201cI have been feeling so tired lately.\u201d \u201cI\u2019m sorry. I know this whole thing has had me exhausted, too. I shouldn\u2019t keep you,\u201d I said and stood up. \u201cMartha, is there anything else I can get you or do for you? I\u2019d be happy to help.\u201d \u201cNo, dear, I\u2019m fine. But, I suppose, if you wouldn\u2019t mind, perhaps someday you\u2019d come by, and we can talk about our husbands?<\/p>\n

You know, just to keep one another company?\u201d I had to choke back the lump forming in my throat. \u201cOf course, Martha. I would love to do that.\u201d How had I not thought to check in on her before? I knew her husband had died several years ago, and other than attending the funeral, I hadn\u2019t offered her a bit of support. I felt terrible about that. \u201cIt must have been hard, working at Henry\u2019s after your husband died there.\u201d \u201cIt was, but Henry was so good to me.<\/p>\n

I don\u2019t know what I would have done without him,\u201d she said, smiling sweetly. \u201cIt\u2019s good to have friends help you through hard times,\u201d I said. She carefully got to her feet, and I offered her a steadying hand. \u201cI do appreciate the pie so much. I don\u2019t bake anymore now that it\u2019s just me and Tiny,\u201d she said and shuffled her way with me to the door.<\/p>\n

\u201cI\u2019m happy to bring it to you. It doesn\u2019t freeze as well as some of my pies, but it will keep a few days in the refrigerator,\u201d I said. \u201cI bake frequently, so I\u2019ll drop back by and bring you something else, and we can have that talk. Oh, let me give you one of my business cards.<\/p>\n

You can call me whenever you\u2019d like.\u201d I dug through my purse and found one of the business cards I used for my blog and gave it to her, then hugged her on my way out the door. I really needed to form some sort of support group locally. Lots of the elderly were without their spouses and loved ones, and it had to be lonely for them.<\/p>\n

I made a mental note to come up with a plan to help with that. 1kitap1.com\/en Chapter Ten The sun was rising later in the mornings these days and I decided I needed to allow myself to sleep in thirty minutes later the next day. The running trail was lit, but I wasn\u2019t comfortable running in the dark anymore.<\/p>\n

You never knew if the crazies were hiding behind the bushes along the trail. I\u2019m talking about the regular town crazies. And now there was also a murderer on the loose. My feet echoed in the silent early morning air as they hit the paved trail.<\/p>\n
