You just tell him I\u2019m your mate?\u201d Joaquin smiled. \u201cPretty much, yeah.\u201d His smile faded. \u201cBut I think he\u2019s also going to give us the plan for how he\u2019s going to tell everyone about us.\u201d \u201cOh.\u201d Her stomach tightened. \u201cEloping still sounds like a good idea to me.\u201d He kissed her. \u201cNope. I think from what I\u2019ve seen that if Dewi was going to say it, she\u2019d say misery loves company.\u201d He smiled. She sat up, allowing him to get up.<\/p>\n

She didn\u2019t move from the bed, though, as he pulled on jeans. \u201cYou know, before I got here, I was really worried about everyone accepting us.\u201d He turned. \u201cWhy?\u201d \u201cOther than my family, have you seen another black person since Spokane?\u201d \u201cThat\u2019s irrelevant. She just about ran poor Reggie through the Inquisition before she finally signed off on Lu\u2019ana marrying him.\u201d \u201cWasn\u2019t Lu\u2019ana an adult?\u201d \u201cYou don\u2019t understand. She raised us, Nami did. Her word was law while we were growing up.<\/p>\n
