She gasped as the size of him took her a moment to accommodate. Fullness and completeness was all she felt. Charlotte wrapped her legs about his waist and a delicious pressure built inside. She clutched at his shoulders and realized with some amusement that he still wore his shirt and pants.

‘The image of her naked and Mason above her, taking her fully clothed made her moan. “Mason, I’m—’” “Let go, Charlotte.” She met his gaze and bit her lip. Her body riding his until the last of her orgasm was spent. Mason quickened his pace, his gasp against her ear marking his own orgasm. Charlotte pulled back and pushed a lock of hair from his face.

“That was amazing.” He chuckled. “Yes it was,” he said, kissing her again, in a slow, sensuous manner. “And I meant what I said before, Charlotte. He stood and walked toward the hearth, and Charlotte could tell by the tautness of his shoulders that he was angry.

And he had every right to be. But then, he knew why she’d come here for tonight. To seek solace, love from a man she’d always admired and cared for. They were just two people who had freely chosen to love each other. Nothing more could be between them other than friendship and perhaps a repeat of tonight, if he was willing. But no matter how much she wished to divorce James, she could not. The scandal would kill her father, not to mention ruin her sister’s hope of marrying well.

Mason ran a hand through his hair. “You deserve better, Charlotte.

Copyright 2013 by Tamara Gill Editing by Serena Tatti Cover Art by EDH Graphics This book is a work of fiction. Thanks foreverything you do. CHAPTER 1 toar Somerset England, 1818 harlotte waded out into the lake that ran behind her father’s Somerset estate and swam toward the middle of the pond. The chilled water cooled her skin and was a welcome reprieve from the scorching summer heat, which England was experiencing that year. Heat bore down on her head from the sun and she shrugged off the thought that she would freckle.

It mattered little what she looked like anymore. Her future was as set as the seasons. The water was a refreshing change after a morning stuck in the stifling hot drawing room with Mama, going over invitations for the forth- coming season in London. Not that Charlotte cared who called or invited them to their events. Her father’s decision was made and the marriage contracts were signed. Charlotte floated onto her back and looked up at the endless blue sky above her.

Not a cloud marred the horizon to hint a break in the endless heat wave. Not that she TAMARA GILL minded, for as long as this hot weather held, the longer her mama would demand that they stay in Somerset. And the longer she could remain unmarried. The sound of a branch breaking underfoot pulled her from her musings and Charlotte treaded water while trying to find the source of the noise. Please let it not be Gus. Her eleven-year-old cousin was the most annoying, vexing boy.

This is a short excerpt from the opening of “” by Unknown, quoted for review and introduction purposes.
