Unnoticed by everyone, Liv had gone extremely silent. She was thinking about the existence of the carnival and how it could possibly change everything for them.<\/p>\n

\u201cWhat time does this thing open?\u201d Liv asked Rachel. \u201cErm\u2026 about six or seven tonight, give or take,\u201d the young constable responded. Liv looked at her watch. It\u2019d just gone 2 pm. \u201cRight, that should give us a few hours.\u201d \u201cA few hours to do what?\u201d Andrew asked. \u201cIf there\u2019s a possibility that these two are going to be at this carnival\u2026 then we need to be there to face them,\u201d Liv suggested.<\/p>\n

The reactions amongst the group looked decidedly mixed. \u201cWith respect, ma\u2019am,\u201d Rachel began, trying to choose her words carefully, lest she talk back to a superior. \u201cIf these killers are going to be there, shouldn\u2019t we be looking at evacuation?\u201d \u201cIf the couple are aware that you are onto them and are planning a trap for them, then it could scare them off.<\/p>\n

At the moment, as far as they\u2019re concerned, you don\u2019t have any rope to hang them with, which gives you an advanage,\u201d Dr Pike noted, trying to take the most pragmatic point of view. But a look in Andrew\u2019s direction saw him register momentary disgust with her assumed callousness, and it reminded her of all the times that bluntness had interfered with their relationship. \u201cLook, this isn\u2019t a situation I\u2019m happy with taking advantage of,\u201d Olivia said, needing to get them on board. She looked around to make sure nobody outside her team was listening in.<\/p>\n

\u201cI am well aware that we are putting a lot of people at risk by doing this. Believe me, that is not lost on me in the slightest, and the gaffer could still shoot me down. But if we don\u2019t do this, then they\u2019re going to move onto another town and they\u2019re going to keep on killing and moving on. We\u2019ve already got at least twenty victims so far.<\/p>\n

A different pair of eyes went over to the woman. \u201cAnd I know you\u2019ve been fluttering your eyelashes at your colleague.\u201d \u201cNothing\u2019s happened yet!\u201d the woman screeched, her voice hoarse from too much begging. \u201c\u2018Yet\u2019?\u201d the husband repeated dangerously, and the woman bowed her head. \u201cYou don\u2019t need to do this,\u201d the woman pleaded to the two people standing next to the dining table.<\/p>\n
