The car turns the circle, past a massive stone fountain, and parks out front. The driver courteously opens the door, guiding Wesley out first. Wesley extends his hand, allowing me to hold on as these new stilettos were difficult to balance in. I wondered if the driver saw anything behind the privacy screen, but as I watched his goodbye, he remained professional and didn\u2019t let anything on.<\/p>\n

In front of the main entrance, a white strip of carpet leads to double doors which open courtesy of the doorman. He kindly offers to take our coats; Wesley had his suit jacket on which he hands over without a thank you, and I take mine off, revealing my dress in full. I thank him, unsure if I needed to tip him but I\u2019m not left with much choice as Wesley pulls me into the foyer.<\/p>\n

\u201cAgain, you look sexy as fuck.\u201d He kisses my neck, not caring that people lingering in the foyer are gazing at us. \u201cYou said I dressed like a nun.\u201d \u201cWell if nuns dressed like this I would be lining up at the convent begging for forgiveness.\u201d I slap his arm, gently. \u201cYou look handsome\u2026okay kinda hot.\u201d<\/p>\n

It\u2019s such a beautiful room; high ceilings with fancy chandeliers that lit up the room and created a warm ambience.<\/p>\n

Each wall is covered in artwork; expensive looking, though put together with the lighting and silk drapes\u2014made the room look amazing. People are standing around, happily chatting in small circles. Almost everyone is dressed in black or white; a few wore some daring colors and stood out in the crowd. A waiter walks past carrying a tray of champagne which brings attention to my thirst. Wesley grabs two for us, at least, I thought they were for us. Instead, he drinks both of them, one after the other.<\/p>\n

My vision is blurred; a rainbow of colors and shapes that make no sense at all. The palm of my hand is covered in sweat, nervously twitching on top of the mouse. My chest tightens, my heart beating erratically like a crazed lunatic trapped inside an asylum. The clock on the wall is loud.<\/p>\n

Every sound in the room is amplified. Or perhaps\u2014I\u2019ve officially gone insane. The tips of my fingers move on their own accord, typing so slowly that each key echoes inside our barely furnished apartment. His name sits within the search engine. All I needed to do is hit search. Simple, right? There would be no turning back. No erasing of information that would find a home inside my reactive brain and just remain there forever because it had this stupid way of retaining information I didn\u2019t need.<\/p>\n

Like the time I accidentally read a love letter from my dad to my mom. It started off like a romance novel then quickly progressed to X-rated porn. And the time I walked in on my brother helping himself to a copy of Hustler perched on his bedside table. Information I retained yet was desperate to erase. Click. My eyes wander hastily across the screen.<\/p>\n

Millions of findings and an overload of information that seemed too much to handle. Where do I start? How, and why, would there be so much information on one human being? The second finding from the top is a popular website. I figure it would be the most trustworthy resource, and within seconds\u2014his profile appears. There\u2019s a picture of him on the top right corner.<\/p>\n

Dazzling smile with hair styled like a movie star, dressed in a black tuxedo and matching bow tie. He looks nothing like the man I know. Facial hair non-existent and skin that looks flawless. There\u2019s no dark circles around his eyes and more notably, the scar that scrapes the bottom of his jawline can\u2019t be seen. Okay, breathe. Just read the bits you want to read and forget the rest.<\/p>\n<\/blockquote>\n
