He dodges me when I reach for the cup and I chase him around the car, eventually catching up to him. Shoving him against the door, I press my body to his and grab his wrists. \u201cYou’re faster in the water but I’m faster on land, little cousin.\u201d Lowering my face to his, I lick my lips, my tongue barely missing his mouth.<\/p>\n

His breaths quicken and when he tries to lean closer to push his lips to mine, I back away, snatching the cup from his hand. Ice goes flying everywhere, hitting the ground and the tires. \u201cWe can say I’m doing you another favor by keeping you from ruining your teeth.\u201d Bending down, I grab the empty cup from the ground while smirking up at a crossed arm Leo. \u201cI hate you.\u201d<\/p>\n

His lips shake, fighting back a smile. \u201cNo you don’t.\u201d I swiped the keys from his pocket. \u201cI’m driving this time.\u201d I’ve had my license since I was sixteen but never got around buying a car. My parents couldn’t afford it and they didn’t like the idea of me working while in high school so whenever I wasn’t able to borrow my dad’s car, I rode around town with Leo. \u201cDo you remember how?\u201d<\/p>\n

He slides into the passenger side. \u201cWe’ll see,\u201d I say, getting in the car right after him. Resting a hand on the door, he leans his head back and lets out a soft sigh. \u201cI’ve taken worse risks before.\u201d The sound of the engine roaring drowns out my laughter as I start the car and he turns on some music, singing louder than every song that plays. He’s letting loose again, his hair waving in the wind as he brings the top of the Jeep down.<\/p>\n

I don’t know if his glow is coming from the sun or the other way around. He finally seems as okay as he promised he was earlier. He’s like an untuned instrument who found his sound again. I damaged him so much earlier, I threw him out of rhythm and he needed time away to remember how to play again. I did this.<\/p>\n

Caused this rift between us. I wanted more and ended up with less in the end.<\/p>\n

\u201cUh yeah.\u201d Leo drops his hand to his hip and his eyes flicker at me. \u201cIt’s our last weekend before going off to college. Who knows when we’ll get to hang out again and have another drunken night on the beach? I huff, rolling my eyes. \u201cFine. I guess I’ll go but I am not getting in the water.\u201d \u201cNo one said you had to. Always so damn dramatic.\u201d Crossing my arms, my legs fall apart as I lean back in the chair watching my cousin change his shirt for the fifth time.<\/p>\n

\u201cWhatever. And If you don’t want me to fall asleep from boredom soon, then you better hurry up and pick a damn outfit.\u201d A laugh rushes out of him and he tugs down a powder blue see through top leaving little to the imagination. His choice in clothing never caused me to look at him twice before.<\/p>\n

I don’t know why this time is different. He’s also looking less like a teenager these days. I guess I am too though. Turning around, he lowers his eyes, offering me his hands. \u201cCome on, asshole. Let’s go. I’m not giving you any reason to get out of this.\u201d My gaze stays on his tiny, dark pink nipples showing through his shirt and when his chest rises, the material clings tighter to his hard nubs. I quickly get to my feet, taking a step back, pretending to look at myself in the closet mirror.<\/p>\n

What the hell was that about? Not only am I not gay, I don’t have some weird, sick attraction to my cousin. So why was I so focused on what was happening under his shirt? I’m not. That’s insane. It’s probably just because I think what he’s wearing is ridiculous for a bonfire party on the beach.<\/p>\n

Or anything for that matter. Leave it to Leo to always stand out.<\/p>\n<\/blockquote>\n
