She was knee-deep in an article when she ran smack into someone. All she saw was a cup of brown coffee splattering all over the shirt of the man in front of her. \u201cOh shit! I\u2019m so sorry!\u201d She quickly peeled off her headphones and looked at the mess she\u2019d made.<\/p>\n

\u201cNo, it\u2019s my fault. I should\u2019ve been watching where I was going,\u201d he told her. \u201cNo, I was in my little zone on my phone. I\u2019m so sorry! Oh my God, please let me buy you a new cup of coffee.\u201d \u201cI could use a new shirt instead.\u201d He chuckled. Candice laughed softly and was happy that he\u2019d taken things so lightheartedly.<\/p>\n

The crash had happened so fast that she didn\u2019t even notice she\u2019d dropped her phone. She reached down to pick it off the pavement and saw the cracked screen. \u201cFuck!\u201d she yelled. \u201cYou should have a screen protector on that.\u201d \u201cHuh?\u201d she asked, frazzled and half listening. Instead of responding, the man pointed to her phone. She shrugged. \u201cOh. Yeah, it was on my to-do list.\u201d \u201cGuess you can scratch that off now, huh?\u201d \u201cYeah, I guess I can,\u201d she said, blowing out hot air.<\/p>\n

\u201cI\u2019m Dimitri, by the way.\u201d \u201cCandice.\u201d He extended his sticky hand to her, and out of guilt, she shook it. \u201cAre you new here? I don\u2019t think I\u2019ve ever seen you before.\u201d \u201cYeah, I\u2019m new\u2026 transferred from an all-girls school.\u201d \u201cWow, this must be a culture shock to you with all this testos- terone floating around campus.\u201d<\/p>\n

She snickered before nodding. \u201cYeah, it\u2019s definitely different.\u201d She looked into his eyes for the first time, soaking in his appear- ance. He looked good besides the dark brown coffee stain on his ini- tially crisp white T-shirt. His skin was a sun-kissed shade of brown, and he had a head full of curls on the top of his head that tapered into a fade toward the sides and the back. Black tattoo ink decorated his left arm down to his wrist. He had juicy, pink lips and a set of white teeth to complement them.<\/p>\n

Perhaps what turned her on the most about him were his black-framed glasses. To her, they signaled education and class. \u201cWhat were you looking at that had you so wrapped up in your phone?\u201d \u201cOh, um. I was just doing some research.\u201d \u201cOn what?\u201d She could feel herself blushing and then shook her head. \u201cNoth- ing, just some stuff for class.\u201d \u201cOh, okay, at least you didn\u2019t say porn or something,\u201d he joked.<\/p>\n
