I\u2019ll teach those mischievous ani- mals to play about like that!\u2019<\/p>\n

And he fetched his broom and began to sweep up Bobs, Topsy, Cosy and Bimbo as fast as he could. They simply couldn\u2019t imag- ine what was happening! As soon as they found their legs they were swept right off them again and were sent round and round the lawn at top speed, first one and then another.<\/p>\n

\u00a2 Happy Days! \u2018What is it, what is it?\u2019 yelped Topsy. \u2018There\u2019s a thing that goes swish-swish-swish behind me all the time!\u2019 mewed Bimbo. The four animals fled as fast as their legs could take them away. They sat under the big lilac bush and licked themselves. \u2018Was it you in the leaves?\u2019 Bobs asked Topsy and Bimbo. \u2018Oh, what a fright you gave me! And then the gardener gave me a worse fright still! Look \u2014 he\u2019s sweeping the leaves up again \u2014 and I\u2019m sure the wind is getting up.<\/p>\n

What fun if it blows the leaves all over the lawn! Well \u2014 he won\u2019t be able to sweep the wind away!\u2019 And sure enough, the wind did come \u2014- and once more the leaves were flying all over the lawn. \u2018Serves you right!\u2019 barked Topsy to the poor gardener. But she was careful not to go too near him! She didn\u2019t want to be swept away again.<\/p>\n

Chapter 9 Bimbo Plays a Trick () nce Bimbo was naughty, and Mistress said he must go without his dinner. \u2018You have sharpened your claws on my best chairs, said Mistress. \u2018You have scratched the legs terribly. You know quite well you are not supposed to do that, you _ haughty kitten-cat!\u2019 Bimbo was sad when he didn\u2019t have any dinner. He thought he had better see if he could get some of Cosy\u2019s. But Cosy was ready for him and hissed and spat so fiercely that he didn\u2019t dare to do anything but lie down a little way off and watch Cosy eat up all her dinner, and then lick the drips off her whiskers.<\/p>\n

\u2018Couldn\u2019t I clean your whiskers for you?\u2019 e Happy Days! said Bimbo. But Cosy said no. So Bimbo wan- dered off to see if Bobs had got any dinner to spare. Bobs was just eating his meal when Bimbo came up. \u2018Can I have a little, please?\u2019 asked Bimbo.<\/p>\n
