They all sat down and helped themselves to \u00ab\u2022 the spicy food. \u201cYum!\u201d said Daisy, dipping a chicken skewer in peanut sauce. \u201cHow are the wedding plans coming along?\u201d asked Violet. Bridesmaid Surprise \u201cWe\u2019ve finally set a date,\u201d replied her dad, taking another helping of curry. \u201cWe\u2019re getting married on the tenth of June.\u201d \u201cIt\u2019s going to be on my friend Kim\u2019s farm,\u201d said Daisy\u2019s mum. \u201cWe want it to be fun and informal – a big party for all our friends and family.\u201d<\/p>\n

Listening to Kate and Ben discuss their wedding made Mia think about Alice. She deserved to have a wonderful wedding, too. For that to happen, they really needed to grant Daisy\u2019s wish – and Violet\u2019s, too. After dinner, Kate said, \u201cThat was delicious, thank you. We\u2019re going to take a walk to get some fresh air.\u201d Linking arms, she and Violet\u2019s dad headed out into the evening. Curry in a Hurry \u201cThey\u2019re so cute together,\u201d said Mia.<\/p>\n

The girls wandered into the living room. Daisy sat down at the piano and played a few notes. \u201cHave you got them a wedding present yet?\u201d Violet asked Daisy. Daisy shook her head. \u201cI want to get something special, but I haven\u2019t thought of anything yet.\u201d \u201cSame here,\u201d said Violet. \u201cWhy don\u2019t you make something?\u201d Mia suggested. \u201cBut what?\u201d asked Violet. Daisy plinked and plonked a few more keys on the piano as they all tried to think of the perfect idea.<\/p>\n

Bridesmaid Surprise <\u00aef \u201cI know!\u201d exclaimed Violet. \u201cWe could write them a song!\u201d \u201cYes!\u201d cried Daisy. \u201cThey\u2019d love that!\u201d Daisy and Violet sat together on the piano bench. As Daisy picked out a melody on the piano, Violet scribbled down lyrics. \u201cYou\u2019re getting married today, hooray!\u201d Violet sang. \u201cWe wish you joy on your wedding day!\u201d Mia whispered, \u201cThey\u2019re getting along!\u201d \u201cLet\u2019s hope Princess Poison doesn\u2019t turn up again and wreck things,\u201d murmured Charlotte.<\/p>\n

\u201cOK, I think we\u2019ve got it,\u201d said Violet. \u201cI\u2019m going to get my guitar so I can play along.\u201d She ran upstairs. \u201cCan I join in with your little sing^along?\u201d Curry in a Hurry cooed Princess Poison, appearing once more. \u201cNo!\u201d said Charlotte. Princess Poison pointed her wand at the song the girls had just written. \u201cViolet will be singing a different tune when she thinks you ruined the song.\u201d<\/p>\n

\u201cNo!\u201d cried Daisy, clutching the piece of paper to her chest. \u201cPlease don\u2019t do that!\u201d \u201cWho are you?\u201d demanded Violet, coming back with her guitar. \u201cWhat\u2019s going on? \u201cShe\u2019s going to destroy our song!\u201d said Daisy.<\/p>\n

asked Mia Thompson. Her mouth watered as a delicious smell wafted from the barbecue. \u201cOne cheeseburger, coming right up,\u201d said Mia\u2019s dad, flipping a burger high up into the air with a grin. \u201cI want a sausage too!\u201d called out Mia\u2019s little sister, Elsie. Bridesmaid Surprise Mia and Elsie were spending the weekend at their dad\u2019s flat. Most of the time they lived with their mum, but every other weekend they visited their dad. It had been hard to get used to at first, but now Mia and Elsie looked forward to their weekends with Dad – he always planned fun things to do with them.<\/p>\n

\u201cCome on, Elsie,\u201d said Mia. \u201cLet\u2019s go and set the table.\u201d The girls crossed the tiny garden and went into the kitchen through the patio doors. Opening a cupboard, Mia took out plates and drinking glasses while Elsie rummaged in the cutlery drawer for knives and forks. Mia opened the fridge, which was covered in photos of the girls and pictures they\u2019d drawn.<\/p>\n<\/blockquote>\n
