We were natural, and it made the last thirteen years of my life settle like a brick inside my chest. I\u2019d wasted so much time, so much of myself. I blinked a few times, willing the sudden rush of emotion away.<\/p>\n<p>I leaned onto one elbow as I pointed to the letter C. \u201cYou play center.\u201d He nodded. Pleased, he said, \u201cYes\u2026\u201d He pointed to the other letters explaining, \u201cLeft wing, right wing, and the center, we\u2019re all forwards, and these guys\u2026\u201d He circled the letter D and I squirmed. His chuckle made me laugh.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cYou\u2019re ticklish\u2026 I\u2019ll have to remember that.\u201d A shuddered breath exhaled from my lungs at the promise. \u201cRight wings are in charge of the right side of the rink and \u2013\u201d \u201cThe Left wing is in charge of the left\u2026 simple enough.\u201d \u201cNot always, sometimes I play a lot of defense, too, and sometimes the D-men play offensively and score goals.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>My brows pulled together. \u201cThis hurts my brain.\u201d Mark\u2019s head fell forward as he barked out a laugh. \u201cSays the accountant&#8230;\u201d \u201cMath is easy.
