Addie knocked the wind out of him but didn\u2019t knock him to the ground as she\u2019d hoped. \u201cHmmm. I beg to differ.\u201d She called over her shoulder as she took a seat at her desk and looked through her email.<\/p>\n

\u201cGod damn it, Addison.\u201d William choked out as he attempted to catch his breath. \u201cI think we both know what this little episode of yours is about.\u201d Addie snorted. \u201cOh, please. So . . . I assume you\u2019re here to enlighten me.\u201d William walked to the desk and placed both palms on it, towering over her, and looked her straight in the eye. \u201cYou saw that BS from the gala and you\u2019re jealous.\u201d \u201cIs that all you\u2019ve got, Mr. Hartman?<\/p>\n

Because if so, I\u2019d appreciate it if you\u2019d get out and let me get back to work.\u201d William reached over and tucked a loose strand of hair behind Addie\u2019s ear, causing her to flinch. \u201cNope, you have no idea how much more I\u2019ve got, baby.\u201d Addie rolled her eyes and buzzed Sondra, requesting she come to her office ASAP.<\/p>\n

William smiled wryly and raised his eyebrows. \u201cSmart girl.\u201d William turned to go and but stopped. \u201cAddison, you know you\u2019re lucky I don\u2019t just take you right here on this desk. You like to pretend, but I think we both know that you want it just as much as I do. Play hard to get all you want, but just so I\u2019m making myself clear, this is far from done.\u201d Addie deadpanned. \u201cTwo things, Mr. Hartman.<\/p>\n

One: You\u2019re wrong; I\u2019m not the jealous type. I like to think of myself as more of the get-even kind. And two: Don\u2019t ever fucking call me baby, again, got it?\u201d William stood at the door, unable to wipe the smile off his face as Sondra looked from Addison to William and back again with a hint of annoyance. Damn that girl was good for him. Ten William made it to the elevator and stepped in just as Sondra rounded the corner and stuck her hand through the closing doors.<\/p>\n

Sondra looked him up and down. \u201cYou mind if I ride up with you? \u201cIt doesn\u2019t appear as though I have a choice,\u201d William chided. \u201cI saw you at the gala with the redhead. Everyone saw you, William.<\/p>\n
