I gather all the strength I have and shove him with everything in me. I stumble free and run for the door, but he reaches it first, blocking my way.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cWhat has happened to you?\u201d he says, frustration and possession twisted together. \u201cYou can\u2019t change. You\u2019re mine. I\u2019ve planned our future. We\u2019ll get married. You\u2019re a good girl, and I need a good girl. You\u2019ll accept me the way I am. That\u2019s how it\u2019s supposed to be.\u201d He bends and tries to push down my jeans.<\/p>\n<p>I strike out blindly, hitting his back, but he doesn\u2019t stop. Then the door flies open. A man I\u2019ve never seen before storms in, his presence scary and his face murderous. Behind him is Purvi. She runs to me at once, hands on my arms, pulling me close as I fumble to fix my clothes, shaking, crying into her shoulder. The man moves past us like a force of nature, his fists finding Rohan, each blow driven by a fury that feels almost unreal. I want to scream.<\/p>\n<p>I want to beg him to stop. My mouth opens, but no sound comes out. My legs won\u2019t move.
