I put kilometers of distance, deserts of time, and oceans of space between myself and that sinuous portent of nature. Despite Ingeborg\u2019s friendly shouts, rapidly fading in volume due to the speed of my flight, assuring me that money wasn\u2019t necessary, that she could trust me, asking why I was leaving so quickly, had she said or done something that might have annoyed me, the poor thing, what an enchanting woman, what a nightmare of a woman, I fled her dominion like a soul being taken by the devil\u2014something I was all too familiar with\u2014promising to never again set foot in this part of Szonden.<\/p>\n<p>At least not until a few years had passed.
